Anemic job growth: U.S. added just 73,000 jobs in July and numbers for prior months were revised MUCH LOWER

Shockingly bad jobs report reveals a months-long stall

U.S. payrolls grew by just 73,000 last month, well below forecasts, but downward revisions to prior months stunned Wall Street even more, showing that the labor market was much weaker than thought over the spring."

U.S. added just 73,000 jobs in July and numbers for prior months were revised much lower

Nonfarm payrolls growth totaled 73,000 for July, above the June total of 14,000 but below even the meager Dow Jones estimate for a gain of 100,000.

June and May totals were revised sharply lower, down by a combined 258,000 from previously announced levels.

Not a good signs, I predict more layoffs coming.

The tariff raised to 35% have caused Ontario to court a company to make tin cans and not import them from the USA, a billion dollar loss to American manufacturers.

“This is absolutely the worst major economic report since the end of the pandemic era,” Joe Brusuelas, chief economist at RSM US, wrote to CNN via email.

Trump’s “unorthodox economic agenda and policies may be starting to make a dent in the labor market, and especially troubling was the massive downward revisions of over a quarter million jobs in May and June,” Christopher Rupkey, chief economist at FwdBonds, wrote in a note Friday.

yikes.

There is a time and a place for tariffs, but Trump exceeded his presidential authority to unilaterally establish wide ranging tarrifs on dozens of countries. If we fall into recession, it's going to be the fault of the Republican Congress for not checking Trump's abuse of tariff laws.

Newsweek reported yesterday that outside of the COVID pandemic, the last five months have been the slowest period of job growth since 2010.
IF I can find the article that was in the news this morning I will post it.
It listed over 150 companies that plan on laying off people in Aug.
The smallest one said it was laying off 50 people the largest was over 1000.
And that is before the effects of Trumps high tariffs that have already hit the auto industry , that is saying their lay offs will be getting larger as time goes on.
Trump putting 35% tariffs on Mexico and Canada and only 15% on Japan is hurting the US auto makers and giving the Japanese auto makers a hand up on them.
YEP it sure looks like Trump wants to fuck the US auto makers , one of the largest parts of our economy.

It's not just the shockingly bad July jobs report. What's really alarming are the massive downward revisions of jobs reports from the previous months, which were only fair-to-middling to begin with.

This thread is what I call a wishful thinking thread. One has to wonder why brainless leftist liars want bad things to happen to America.
I didn't want Trump elected precisely so bad things wouldn't happen to America.

These shockingly bad job growth numbers are evidence my judgement was correct.

US employers slash hiring as Trump advances a punishing trade agenda

WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. hiring is slowing sharply as President Donald Trump’s erratic and radical trade policies paralyze businesses and raise doubts about the outlook for the world’s largest economy.

The first 6 months have been so successful...with midterms not far away and no one to step up to the plate, they have to try anything that they can to try to hurt US... and blame Republicans...;)

Walmart, Procter & Gamble, Ford, Best Buy, Adidas, Nike, Mattel, Shein, Temu, Stanley Black & Decker have raised prices...This is devastating news...
