Trump is winning his trade war. Only the Left-wing media refuses to admit it

The deal “will bring stability. It will bring predictability”, said EU President Ursula von der Leyen at Donald Trump’s Turnberry golf resort in Scotland on Sunday. “Stability” and “predictability” are not words the EU typically employs when discussing anything connected with the US president. But when you lead an economic bloc that has just been comprehensively outmanoeuvred in a trade dispute, forced into a deal that even your own side says favours the US, you could be forgiven for acting out of character.

The basic rate of 15 per cent that will now be charged on most European goods entering the US was perhaps not coincidentally the same rate that Trump had extracted from Japan in a similar deal last week. It is the same rate that could, pending an announced review, become a new general norm in US foreign trade relations. It is also substantially higher than the less than 2 per cent effective rate that the US charged the EU before Trump returned to office.

It was “the best we could get”, von der Leyen said almost apologetically in a news conference after the deal was announced. Indeed, a hard US-imposed deadline to conclude negotiations loomed on August 1, only four days after the agreement was reached. Without the deal, US tariffs on EU imports, which form about 20 per cent of the US’s total foreign purchases, would have shot up to 30 per cent across the board, with high levies on automobiles, pharmaceuticals, and other key industries in which the EU has a competitive advantage left painfully in place.

In other words, Trump appears to be winning his trade war. US markets were flat on Monday, largely in anticipation of corporate earnings reports, and have risen strongly in the year to date. Wiser commentators have also come to the realisation that Trump’s tariff strategy is not the economic disaster that so many of them had predicted – noting robust aggregate data and little sign that households are under pressure. The IMF’s latest forecasts indicate that the US will continue to significantly outperform its developed world rivals. The president has secured commitments for considerable new investment in the US from a range of trading partners, alongside a more level playing field for American exporters.

America’s discredited legacy media, however, refuses to admit it.

Most groceries have gone down significantly, except for beef...so far, which didn't happen under Trump, stupidfuck.

Inflation still over 3% when Biden left office; well under 3% now.

Choke on it.

None of the democrats care if you are mixed race. If your opinion is different than theirs you are either a "traitor" or just "white"...

Remember that congresswoman who said "they all look the same to me" when she was talking about a hispanic man she had called "white"? Corrine Brown was her name... It's pretty much a standard. Your opinion is "bad" therefore you are "white".

The Beef herd shrunk under Biden because of increasing feed costs. It will take about 3 years to significantly increase herd size.

Recent data suggest that U.S. economic growth resumed in the second quarter of 2025 and likely fully recovered from the modest headwinds that appeared in the first quarter
. Monthly readings of payroll job creation were consistently stronger in the second quarter, and the unemployment rate has remained historically low at just over 4 percent. As of June, a total of 671,000 payroll jobs have been created during the first five months of this Administration. In addition, most inflation readings were stable-to-lower in the second quarter, with the exception of energy prices, which trended up against a backdrop of increased volatility. However, key drivers of inflation in recent years, such as inflation for housing and core non-energy services, continued to moderate. An expected pickup in productivity growth also should help dampen inflationary pressure. Overall, economic data for the second quarter point to stronger growth and a pick-up in job creation, coupled with signs of relatively stable inflation despite earlier concerns of a tariffs-induced increase in the price level.

Official data on real GDP growth in the second quarter will not be available until Wednesday, July 30. Nonetheless, available high-frequency data suggest that growth likely rebounded markedly in the second quarter.
According to the most recent publicly available survey (the Wall Street Journal quarterly survey published on July 12, 2025), the median forecast for second-quarter GDP growth was 2.3 percent at an annual rate – a solid swing from the 0.5 percent decline in the first quarter. Meanwhile, estimates of forecasters at the 25th and 75th percentiles ranged from 1.6 percent to 2.7 percent. This survey closed on July 8, after the passage of the One Big Beautiful Act fiscal bill on July 4, as well as after President Trump’s announcement on July 7 of an extension of the delay in modifying reciprocal tariff rates (previously due to expire on July 9) until August 1. The Q1 GDP figures already produced a large increase in capital expenditures, likely the results of the retroactivity aspects of the One Big Beautiful Bill. Further gains in such outlays should provide additional positive impetus to productivity growth.

lol. Do you read the posts here? Seriously. <smh>... Yes, the leftists almost invariably do exactly that. I let them because the uber right does the same thing...

Even with that kind of thing though, I still believe that everyone, even Terry, just want what is best for the nation and have a different idea of what it is.

That doesn't make me (or those leftists) "unbiased" nor suddenly make leftists "right"...
