Should we repeal "Don't ask, don't tell?"

Should we repeal this atrocity?

Damo, when did I give you permission to alter this poll? I had it the way I had it for a reason. If you feel differently than I, you should have started a different poll, or, otherwise, state your intent to change the polls of others willy nilly in the rules.

:palm:

i am not wrong at all....

tell me....does the federal government have to recognize homosexual marriage? did the federal government have to create a SEPERATE federal act so that the states would not be bound by gay marriage contracts from states that recongize such?

you're totally clueless at to the P&I clause....

I would honestly say that the courts have a pretty obvious responsibility to legalize gay marriage nation wide. I just can't see how you can interpret the 14th amendment differently.

Yurt is proud of the fact that many states are actually in violation of the US constitution by refusing to recognize the gay marriages of other states but are protected in their violation of the constitution by the anti-constitutional DOMA.

I didn't alter the poll. Find another target child.

I changed it willy nilly. I did it because I KNEW that our resident "great american moron" would then trumpet his ignorance and prejudice for all the board to see. I did it on one other poll yesterday and a few in the past. I promise, that from this day hence, I will not alter ANY poll not originally created by me.

I think it is appalling that our soldiers should have less rights than a regular citizen.

Of course, someone will respond that this is totally different than racial integration of the military, yet the arguments are the same against homosexuality as they were against racial integration. That is, unit cohesion. Which is complete bullshit. Our workplaces get by just fine with homosexuals. Many of these soldiers, if they are not gay themselves, have family memebrs that are.

Do conservatives imagine that soldiers are somehow less capable of working with homosexuals than ordinary citizens?

While I agree with the sentiment you expressed, anyone in the military already have less rights than regular citizens.

Knew that one person who would vote no would be Southern Moron. Should have seen the other would be webbway. I am really suprised that Ice and loyal are not on board furiously beating off SM and telling him what a genius he is.

Such as? I know what you are getting at but are these limits on their "rights" any different than the limits most of us accept in employment? Soldiers certainly accept more in degree, as their employment is more of a commitment and consumes a greater portion of their lives. That is, a soldier is basically working 24/7 where most of us work only 40 a week.

Most businesses in this country have integrated homosexuals into the workforce (and they didn't need major anti discrimination laws to do it). They don't use DADT policies. It does not cause a loss of cohesion.

I play softball with several homosexuals. Outside of this post, I have never even considered the impact their sexuality has on unit cohesion. It has no negative effect, as far as I can tell. Can you hit, throw, run, catch and are you going to do your best? Those are the things that make for unit cohesion. Nobody gives a damn who you are sleeping with. Just hit the ball.

I don't believe our soldiers are any less capable of handling different sexual preferences than anyone else.

Only a matter of time, they would probably give him a blowjob only he doesn't like them.

There are numerous differences in the constitutional rights that you and I enjoy, and those enjoyed by those in the military.

The 1st Amendment does not apply to active duty members of the military. There is no freedom of speech or right to assemble.

The 4th Amendment protects us from unreasonable search & siezure, but military personnel can be searched anytime they are on base or ship.

The 8th Amendment would certainly prohibit restricting someone to 3 days on bread & water, but the military can still do that.
