But despite the strongly worded warnings from its own officials, Kerr County put off nearly all the flooding recommendations, listing them as 'deferred' in a table towards the end of the 220-page document.

But it's Trump's fault

Soooo...it's the Republican Governor's fault. Got it.

Why is the Pedophile-in-Chief throwing federal tax dollars at a State fuckup?

The local government..
They are the ones that put it on the back burner
Kerr county only has 53K residents so money is a real issue. A few $50 weather radios could have fixed the problem. It is a rural area with only 67K household income. A lot of retired people live there.

None of you people understand that unless they permanently close that valley to the public, there is no way a tragedy can be prevented. That valley is deep, and under the meteorological conditions that rapidly formed, there was no way for people to escape the water, even in vehicles.

You think the county is the Governor now, ay? I notice that County and State are spelled differently, it's possible the mess up is at a different level than you think, if it is even a mess up... Kerr County =/= Texas.

And it is likely they are "throwing dollars" at the problem for the same reason they threw money at California when their government defunded the fire department just before fire season... folks need help even if the Governor is a jackwipe and the Mayor is vacationing during fire season.

Governor Abbott is the governor of the entire state. The flooding issues along the Guadalupe River have been known for decades but putting in flood control measures like dams is costly. Same goes for flood warning sirens which is why the idea was turned down due to cost.

But, yeah, lets blame the little Christian girls for being too fucking stupid for not having a weather radio. SMH

"There should have been sirens here," Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick told Fox News on Monday, adding that the subject will likely come up in a special session of the state legislature to analyze what occurred during the flooding.

Patrick added, "Had we had sirens around this area, up and down -- the same type of sirens they have in Israel when there's an attack coming, that would have blown very loudly -- it's possible that would have saved some of these lives."

Records reviewed by ABC News show that many of the same questions have been under discussion, specifically in Kerr County, for nearly a decade....

....The Kerr County Commissioners' Court applied for a nearly $1 million FEMA grant, according to the meeting minutes. The county's application was not selected, but it was not immediately clear why.
