Cysticercosis is an infection caused by the larvae (young worms) of tapeworms.

How it spreads​

You get cysticercosis when you swallow tapeworm (T. solium) eggs. The eggs are passed in the feces (poop) of someone with a tapeworm. Tapeworm eggs can get in or on food, water, or surfaces contaminated with feces. People swallow the eggs when they consume contaminated food or water or put contaminated fingers in their mouth. Autoinfection is when someone with a tapeworm infects themselves with tapeworm eggs. They can also infect others in the family. Eating pork cannot give you cysticercosis.

My daughter has completed Pre-Med and she showed some brain CAT Scans to me but there were none Ike this.

Por Dios, that patient had best have their affairs in order.

My daughter volunteered many hours at Piedmont Hospital. She shadowed Hank Aaron’s heart doctor and helped him put his shirt back on after an examination. She told him that he looked familiar and he said he was Hank Aaron. She said she wanted to get his autograph but it wouldn’t have looked professional.

An old story but a true story.

He fell later on his ice covered driveway. My daughter said he had left hip surgery and was in a lot of pain.

He died of natural causes. The home run king, Bonds used drugs and cheated.

The symptom that made them come to the hospital was seizures.

RFK Jr had Cysticercosis from eating under cooked pork in South America. I think they caught his case early though.

Doctors get to meet cool people.

One of the doctors that my daughter shadowed was the Brave’s team doctor and was a star basketball player at Duke.

He became a heart surgeon. He gave me some books that he had written about his years at Duke. He was ,still practicing into his 80’s.
