No Americans have died in the attack on the Iranian nuclear sites.
Some sources indicate that Iranian military action, often working through proxies, has led to the deaths of
well over a thousand American soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan over the last decade and a half. The Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs states that this includes approximately 1,100 US deaths in Iraq attributable to Iran's support for Iraqi insurgents, as well as other Coalition troops. However, the Pentagon stated in 2019 that at least 603 US personnel deaths in Iraq were the result of Iran-backed militants.
It is important to note that these figures may not represent the totality of deaths. The Foundation for Defense of Democracies lists additional attacks, some of which resulted in the deaths of American citizens. These include:
- The 1983 Beirut bombings, which killed 63 US military members and 17 Americans at the US Embassy.
- The killing of three US soldiers in a drone attack on a base in Jordan in January 2024.
- Hamas attacks that killed at least 48 Americans and kidnapped at least 12 others in October 2023.
- Attacks on US personnel in Iraq between 2003 and 2011, which the Pentagon linked to at least 603 deaths.
