Men are judged more according to their income, by men and women, mates and friends. Women can not work and it's not considered a character flaw, they're just choosing something else. Socially men have have to work to be acceptable. Women have choices and as such are not quite as desperate to keep the job or get the raise. It's true; employment is more significant in the life of a man. I din't create reality, i just understand it better than you.

Im not complaining. Im explaining the wage discrepancy. Making money is more important in the life of a man than it is a woman. This is science as it's an extension of the wife choosing the hunter with the most meat. The reality of female mate choice and a preference for more over less, make men more competitive to get the more or risk being alone and unwanted. And even when women work, they still want men who make more. it is science, actually. It's evolution.

It's culture. Yes, the gender roles developed through evolution and were largely determined by what worked best for survival. But, we don't hunt for our food anymore. There is no evolutionary reason to maintain those gender roles any longer and there has not been for a long time. They remain now because of culture, not evolution.
In fact, it looks as though there may now be evolutionary pressure to change the roles as guys who do housework get more booty.
Is it going to change overnight, no. It is deeply ingrained, but there is no reason not to start, except that you are a mysoginistic homo.

We are not hiding from the dinosuars in caves anymore (Ditzy joke). The dangers to a woman during pregnancy have dramatically declined. But, I agree, it still has some influence. This fact ,more than likely, means that gender roles will remain to some extent. But there is no reason they have to have such a great influence any longer.
It makes perfect sense. You keep her from expending all of her time/energy on housework and childcare and she has more for you.
