“The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (H.R. 1) would result in 1.8 million individuals in rural communities losing their Medicaid coverage by 2034. In addition, select Medicaid provisions in H.R. 1 would result in a $50.4 billion reduction in federal Medicaid spending on rural hospitals over 10 years.1 See the chart on the next page for a state-by-state breakdown of rural spending and coverage losses.

Rural Hospitals Are Already Struggling:

  • 48% of rural hospitals operated at a financial loss in 2023.2
  • 92 rural hospitals have closed their doors or been unable to continue providing inpatient services over the past 10 years.3
  • Rural hospitals lose money on several critical service lines, including behavioral health, pulmonology, obstetrics, and burns and wounds.4

Unnecessary cruelty. Trump's lifetime project of hate.

One would think if Democrats really cared about this (if you read your own link) they would have resolved it years ago or in the last administration.
Obviously they did not.

Rural areas tend to vote red, so they will have to live with the consequences. It's not like we haven't told them, heck, the republicans have pretty blatantly made it clear themselves. No bitching that this isn't what I voted for when shit hits the fan for MAGA.

Cutting Medicaid to pay for tax cuts for billionaires seems like perfectly normal Republican values. If Trump's base gets hurt by this, they have no one to blame but themselves.

He’s hurting his base with these cuts. They thought he cared.
They won't care until it hits them and they can't get the help they need.
Hurricane season is upon us and when they need help paying for the recovery and it isn't there they will be crying like babies.
Red states in the south have for years been saying look at the taxes in the blue states how high they are, well when FEMA isn't there to help them and their state has to pick up the majority of the bill they will either raise their state taxes to help their people or let them go it alone and suffer, we will have to see what they do.
And the people that voted for this will be the ones crying the most.

If you're getting Medicaid...and you can game, post on line, and vacation, you should be responsible for working for those benefits...;)
What about people that have physical disabilities that prevent them from working ?
Old people that retired that had min. wage jobs and don't have healthcare?

Do you realize how many people with physical disabilities are able...and do...work?
Why wouldn't the older people you mention be eligible...
The system has needed reviewed and revamped for ages...let's make it work...and work better... for the people who really deserve those benefits...

DO YOU know how many have disabilities and can NOT work at all?
