7-year-old girl killed in Detroit police raid

(CNN) -- Police in Detroit, Michigan, on Sunday expressed "profound sorrow" at the fatal shooting of a 7-year-old girl in a police raid.

Aiyana Jones was shot and killed by police executing a search warrant as part of a homicide investigation, Assistant Chief Ralph Godbee said in a statement.

"This is any parent's worst nightmare," Godbee said. "It also is any police officer's worst nightmare. And today, it is all too real."

The warrant was executed about 12:40 a.m. ET Sunday at a home on the city's east side, Godbee said. Authorities believed the suspect in the Friday shooting death of 17-year-old high school student Jarean Blake was hiding out at the home. Blake was gunned down in front of a store as his girlfriend watched, Godbee said.

very tragic. i'm glad the state police have stepped in to investigate because all of this is very sketchy. too much misinformation out of the detroit PD propaganda center.

supposedly there is actual film footage that shows the bullet that hit little aiyana came from outside. If that is the case, then several officers need to become ex-officers immediately. it's also a shame that the judge that authorized this raid can't be held accountable.

Gee Damo; I never thought you would be one to join the "stir the pot" club.

Oh-well!!

:D

There's certain things that I can't avoid feeling compelled to stir a bit. This makes me sick.

I agree that this is a travesty; but your title could be seen as an implication that this was a deliberate act.

Oh well, let's convict them via articles.
Who needs facts.

Uhmmmm...

Why should the judge be held accountable?

So now Judge's are supposed to have clairvoiance and the ability to see into the future??
They're supposed to require quality intelligence from law enforcement that want a warrant, especially when the law enforcement are seeking permission to do a dangerous activity in the same location as children.

So it's the Police Department that approaches the Judge and requests the warrant??

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!! :good4u:
Ah, the unshakable "rrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigggggggggghhhhhhhhhtttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt!" Argument. How could I possibly counter that?

How about with a parallel? If a bartender serves someone booze, and does not cut them off, and the drunk goes out and gets a DUI, the bartender is liable for serving them. It's the same with the judge.

Your attempted connection between a bartender and a Judge is a total failure and since you are obviously unable to see why, explaining it would be like trying to teach a pig to sing. :good4u:

judges are supposed to use their intelligence and define the parameters of a warrant, not rubber stamp a no-knock raid on two apartments because the cops didn't take the time to determine which one their suspect was in. That's how little kids get killed.

The warrant was for TWO apartments? So what that says is they didn't have probable cause for either. We had that problem here too. Cops ran a warrant on an entire complex because they didn't know which one the fugitive was in. During that the cops found several bags of marijuana, some bongs etc. ALL of it was thrown out for lacking probable cause to be in the apartment.
