The Daily injustice report vol. 3

* Fort Worth Texas has settled a wrongful death lawsuit for $2,000,000 to the family of an unarmed mentally ill man who was killed when he was tasered for 54 seconds, well beyond the recommended 5 second bursts. The family had called for help to get him treatment but say he wasn’t a threat.
department policy was violated and a man was murdered by a police officer, yet no disciplinary action was taken.

* Bozeman Montana has settled a lawsuit for $90,000 to a man who claimed that officers came to his duplex looking for his neighbor on a warrant for unpaid fines and ended up assaulting and arresting him for resisting when he shut his inside door. One of the officers involved made comments on his Facebook about it bragging about “messing with people” and saying there should be a law allowing him to put stupid people in jail.
The article references remarks by officer Anderson and his facebook page about him not knowing the social networking website was public. maybe he should surrender then, since he apparently is also stupid.

* An Ottawa Hills Ohio police officer was found guilty of felony assault with a firearm for shooting an unarmed motorcyclist in the back during a traffic stop, leaving the man paralyzed.
Luckily for this victim the dashcam video stayed intact.

* A New York City Sanitation police officer, yes they are granted police powers by the state, has plead guilty to molesting two girls while he was working as a Navy Sea Cadets instructor on Staten Island.
sanitation police officer? really?

* The police chief of Hopedale Ohio took a plea deal that gave him two years in prison in for sexually battery charges involving a 17-year-old boy he had sex with inside the police station.

* The University of Redlands California public safety director was arrested on child molestation charges on allegations that he had a sexual relationship with a juvenile girl while he was still a lieutenant with the Redlands California police department.

* A New York NY police officer was convicted of conspiracy & attempted theft charges but cleared of more serious charges he was facing for his role in a botched robbery attempt of a suspected drug dealer in New Jersey.
The jury cleared this 'officer' of the serious charges, so I guess they can continue to deal with the officers they have.

* A Chesapeake Virginia sheriff’s sergeant has plead guilty to multiple charges stemming from three armed bank robberies he committed. He blamed the robberies on growing debt problems he faced.
wonder how many people he arrested for the same crimes and what was his attitude at the time?

* The interim police chief of the Seattle Washington police department says they are widening their internal investigation into the videotaped abuse of an innocent Latino man to include the officers at the scene who stood by and watched a gang cop hurl a racial remark at the man then stomp on his head. However, the chief couldn’t explain why the officers involved weren’t put on leave until after the video went public even though they knew about the incident well before that.
we'd like to know also.

* A Youngstown Ohio police officer was found to have used excessive force and will face disciplinary action after an internal investigation into allegations that he beat a paralyzed man who was in an auto accident. Another officer at the scene will also face disciplinary action for witnessing the incident but failing to do anything about it. Neither will face any criminal charges.
assault and battery with complicity in the crime by remaining silent. no criminal charges? really?

* The police chief in West Pelzer South Carolina has been charged with two counts of misconduct in office on allegations that he seized guns from people during unlawful traffic stops and illegally sold them.
we usually call that armed robbery, considering the chief was armed at the time, but i'm sure you and I would have been given the same consideration.......right?

* Baltimore Maryland has settled a whistleblower lawsuit for $115,000 to a police commander who was punished for leaking a report that was critical of an officer-involved shooting incident to the press.
love that public servant transparency stuff

* San Antonio Texas has settled a lawsuit for $250,000 to a man who was seriously injured while he was cleaning up an accident scene by a police officer who hit him when he ran a red light while responding to a non-emergency shoplifting call. That officer is facing trial on manslaughter and aggravated assault charges over that incident which also claimed the life of a fellow officer.
you'll notice how they 'settled' for money when they critically injured a mere civilian, but kill an agent of the state and you will be charged, even if you are an agent of the state. About 2 years ago they passed a law in this state mandating 20 years for the killing of a police officer in a traffic accident......bet he won't face that many.

* A Shelby County Tennessee deputy was found guilty on two counts of false reporting after a dashcam video showed he lied about shooting out the tires of a vehicle driven by a drunk driver who died after he crashed.

* Two Los Angeles CA police officers are the subject of a lawsuit filed by the family of a woman who was killed when the officers hit her car while speeding into an intersection without lights or sirens in response to a burglary call that they didn’t even tell dispatchers they were responding to.
why no charges?

* Three Buffalo New York police officers are the subject of an excessive force lawsuit claiming that they punched one teen and choked and slammed another teen’s head after they caught the two shooting a bb gun. The officers are also accused of having a good laugh at one of the teens after they shot him in the groin with the bb gun.
there appears to be no witnesses or video of this incident. I'll take any bets on how this one ends up.

* An Aurora Colorado police officer is accused of using excessive force on a 13 year old girl who was left bruised after she was arrested by the officer for being in an R-rated movie without a ticket.
nothing will happen because officers commands weren't obeyed.....wanna bet?

* North Hampton New Hampshire has settled a lawsuit for an undisclosed sum of money to a man who needed surgery after the police chief and another officer wrenched his arms behind him and threw him into a wood pile while workers were clearing his property of junk cars by order of the city. The man was complaining that one of the trucks being taken wasn’t junk and wasn’t part of the order.
the article states that the town attorney says the town did no wrongdoing.....if that is so, why the settlement?

* A Chilhowie Virginia police sergeant who was involved in a scandal involving photos of him at a drinking party with underaged girls was sentenced to have his license suspended and fines for driving while under the influence. He resigned after that arrest though he was never disciplined over that whole party thing.

* The mayor of Nashville Tennessee has ordered an audit into that city’s police department’s crime statistics after allegations that the former police chief fudged their crime statistics to make them look better than they really were. The police chief has just moved on to become the police chief of the troubled New Orleans Louisiana police department… not a good sign for them.

* A Sumter South Carolina sheriff’s sergeant has been fired and a sheriff’s detective has resigned for unspecified reasons, though it was released that both had a history of disciplinary issues in their files.

* Finally, a Milton Pennsylvania police sergeant was fired for unspecified reasons after he was suspended for two weeks. Officials are refusing to say why.

Just curious; but when you get done with your daily rant, are you going to post all the information for the thousands who .................oh I don't know.................just did their jobs?? :good4u:
