The daily injustice report

I've decided that it's my duty to alert the American people of their second class status when compared to first class status law enforcement officers. There are people in this country, and on this very board, that think law enforcement can do no wrong, should be given every opportunity and break necessary in order for the second class citizen to feel safer and well protected. So the following reports will be posted daily in order to make sure that you lower class individuals know who your betters are......the police.

so here we are for today,

* A Fort Worth Texas police gang officer was sentenced to 30 days in jail and probation for breaking down his wife’s friend’s door, threatening him with a gun, and then opening fire on him after he jumped out a window to flee. The judge lectured him for 20 minutes over his arrogant attitude and said he was disturbed by the officers apparent attempt to make the jury feel guilty about convicting him.
I could be wrong, but i'm betting that if I had broken down some mans door, threatened him with a gun, then shot at him as he escaped, i'd still be behind bars awaiting attempted murder charges.

* Five Buffalo New York police officers are under investigation on allegations that they assaulted a transit cop while they were drinking at a bar in dress uniform while off-duty. Several witnesses claim that the officers were making a scene which prompted the off-duty transit cop to walk over and remind them that they were in public, where several bar patrons were filming them with cellphone cameras, and that they should calm down… which the officers apparently responded to by attacking the transit cop. Like I keep saying, anyone can become a victim of police misconduct, even other cops.
cannibalism can be good sometimes.

* US Marshals are accused of harassing activists for handing out “Fully Informed Jury Association” pamphlets at a federal court in Pennsylvania before they attacked and arrested one of the activists for videotaping the incident, which is apparently in violation of DHS regulations.
Due to supreme court rulings, it's not illegal to photograph or video record in front of a federal courthouse, nor is it illegal to hand out literature explaining your rights as a jurist member, so tell me again why these federal agents haven't been arrested for assault, battery, and kidnapping?

* South Salt Lake Utah has settled a lawsuit for $125,000 to a woman who was sexually assaulted in her apartment when she was 19 by an on-duty cop who cited her earlier for underage drinking. The suit alleged that the department knew of the officer’s history of sexual misconduct but failed to prevent a situation like this from occurring even though they knew he couldn’t be trusted alone with women.
shocked, i'm totally shocked. k, maybe not.

* A Los Angeles California police officer was sentenced to probation in a deal that reduced attempted sexual assault charges to a misdemeanor assault charge. The incident occurred in Texas where he cornered a hotel worker in a back room and forcibly shoved his hands down her pants and shirt after rubbing his penis against her. He got her into the back room by asking for a crib while his wife and 3-month-old son were back in the hotel room waiting.
raise your hands if you'd have been given the same consideration of reduced charges and probation.

* A Philadelphia Pennsylvania narcotics officer was allowed to retire one day before he was arrested on multiple charges including assault, stalking, making terroristic threats, and harassment in an apparent domestic violence situation.
allowed to retire? really?

* A Dumfries Virginia police sergeant has resigned after she was suspended as part of a wide-ranging investigation into the department on unspecified misconduct allegations. She is one of 4 command personnel for the department and 3 other officers are currently suspended in the probe, including the police chief and a captain. Officials won’t say what’s going on because that state’s police officer bill of rights legislation is designed to keep it secret from the public.
another pension saved. close one.

* The police chief of Minneapolis Minnesota has been ordered by a judge to appear in court to explain why he consistently ignores disciplinary recommendations from the Civilian Review Authority in police brutality cases. Minneapolis consistently ranks among the highest for misconduct incidents in cities it’s size.
must be that 'only one' mentality of knowing their job better than us second class civilians do.

* A Pulaski Tennessee police officer is under investigation for how he handled a traffic stop involving a doctor on her way to the hospital to deliver a baby. The doctor is only one of two OB/GYNs at the hospital and claims she told the officer she was on her way to deliver a baby when stopped for speeding. But the officer says she didn’t and he chased her to the hospital before cuffing her in the parking lot and arresting her for felony evading. She still ended up delivering the baby as the chief was called and had her released to do the delivery before booking her in jail.
is common sense no longer a requirement to serve the public? rhetorical, i know.

* New York NY police officers are accused of needlessly overreacting to what was a simple 3rd grade schoolyard fight when they shackled a 9-year-old kid and detained him for it. The kid suffered an asthma attack over the incident and had to be taken to the hospital. That city is currently the subject of a class action suit for criminalizing what are normally considered in-school disciplinary issues… like this one.
no terrorism charges?

* A Honolulu Hawaii police officer was convicted on reduced charges of driving under the influence and possession of marijuana after he and a fellow officer fled police after apparently caught in Las Vegas while they were there for a softball tournament. He was ordered to pay a $580 fine.
I can't help but wonder if a second class citizen would have had his DUI charges reduced to misdemeanor status.

* A Soldotna Alaska police sergeant resigned while he was the subject of an investigation by state police into unspecified, but reportedly serious, allegations. Police are still keeping quiet about what those allegations were stating that they don’t want to ruin his name by talking about what they may or may not charge him with yet.
can we assume that the authorities would go to such steps to protect the name of a simple civilian facing the same allegations? or be allowed to resign and keep whatever pension they have coming?

* A Milford Delaware police officer was sentenced to anger management classes in a plea deal with prosecutors for disorderly conduct charges after he was fired on allegations that he sprayed pepperspray down the throat of a female patient who was handcuffed to a hospital wall. As a result of the deal his record will stay clean if he completes the class.
would anyone else but a police officer get anger management classes for violently assaulting a helpless detained individual?

* Pennsylvania State Police are the subject of a free-speech lawsuit filed by the ACLU for issuing 770 disorderly conduct citations for swearing in a one year time period.
it's been known for years that swearing is considered constitutional free speech, yet police departments still get away with citing for this.

* Two Forest Park Ohio police officers are the subject of a lawsuit filed by a man claiming that they used excessive force when the officers dragged him out of a restaurant booth and tasered him two times while arresting him over an unpaid parking ticket.
an unpaid parking ticket? really?

* A Robbinsdale Minnesota police officer has been placed on on paid leave his arrest on charges of felony possession of anabolic steroids after sheriff’s deputies searched his home and found two bottles in his dresser drawer in March.
Where else can one commit felonies, then get put on paid vacation?

so remember maggots, you're not an 'only one' and are not afforded this kind of equal protection under the law. Until tomorrow.

And the three of us anti-government types will be the only ones to comment here. Toppy might come by with his standard "kkk/GED/teabagger/poor" rant, but other than that no one else will say anything.

Up yer Big Gay Wazoo, Al! This kind of bullshit by the "law" is exactly why we need MORE CIVILIAN oversight of the people we entrust to protect us.

Here in H-town two female firefighters had racist and sexist slurs spraypainted on their lockers by some of their fellow firefighters. An "investigation" was done, but after weeks of foot-dragging by their higher-ups and being slandered by the local RightWing media talkers, they never caught anyone...never even came up with a "suspects" list.

Not all cops or firefighters are bad, but the bad ones are being covered for by their fellow cops/firefighters and that is a travesty.

I could continue the rant and express my outrage too, but to what end....they have the power and they use it almost without any restraint...its like ranting about losing the nation to ....well, you fill in the blanks.

this is why you liberals are labeled morons. can you not see the idiocy of your statement? If a fellow officer covers for the bad ones, then that fellow officer is also a bad one and since i've only read one single story this year of a law enforcement officer actually whistleblowing on their fellow officers, then we only have one good officer out there. It's too bad the entire community can't stand up for that one officer like they are in Columbia MO this saturday. Since they aren't, that one good officer is being railroaded by his former agency.

Ummm, I understand the parts about the firefighters and everything, but your first paragraph is puzzling. Did you assume that I was/am a proponent of some sort of police love?

Dixie and the anti-immigrant crew say, he is a criminal so what is the big deal?

Not at all, I was merely taunting you for your chiding of others for not posting.

I hadn't read the thread yet, but when I did, it immediately got my blood boiling. With the possible exception of celebrities, no other segment of the population gets more deferential treatment when accused of possible criminal wrongdoing than our police.
