Notice how the MAGA morons never, ever condemn the business owners who hire or otherwise make money off illegals.

The biggest cause of illegals going back home in the past 30 years was the Great Recession. Why? No jobs, no reason to stay. If we started locking up the people who are enticing illegal immigration and profiting off the backs of illegals, then illegals would be less likely to hang around.

Beef up E-verify. Require proof of legal residence to rent or buy a home/apartment/MAGA single-wide/etc. Pass an Immigration bill putting all of this into law.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that there were “more than 1.4 million illegal aliens on Medicaid.”

Johnson said, “We are not cutting Medicaid in this package. There‘s a lot of misinformation out there about this.”


He continued, “The numbers of Americans who are affected are those that are entwined in our work to eliminate fraud, waste and abuse. And what do I mean by that? You got more than 1.4 million illegal aliens on Medicaid. Medicaid is not intended for non-U.S. citizens. It‘s intended for the most vulnerable populations of Americans, which is pregnant women and young single mothers, the disabled, the elderly. They are protected in what we‘re doing because we‘re preserving the resources for those who need it most.”

Johnson added, “You‘re talking about 4.8 million able-bodied workers, young men, for example, who are on Medicaid and not working. They are choosing not to work when they can. That is called fraud. They are cheating the system. When you root out those kinds of abuses, you save the resources that are so desperately needed by the people who deserve it and need it most. That‘s what we‘re doing.”

The small amount of money they had saved up was eaten by the $5,000/month nursing home cost. The financial aid person at the SNF helped us file for Medicaid on her behalf. Multiple documents were required, including proof of citizenship -- her old driver's license, birth certificate, and SSN. The first thing we had to do was sell off all her farm land. (Her tiny home-built house was exempt.) That took a few months. By the time her own funds were almost exhausted, she passed away. So she never received Medicaid assistance. Our former neighbor is now dealing with the same thing for her husband, who lives in a similar facility with blindness and dementia. His nursing home care costs $12,000/month. Most nursing home residents' bills are paid by Medicaid, and every last one of them has had to sell almost everything they own -- and use the proceeds up -- to qualify.

There is no way "illegals" are getting Medicaid.

my mom had memory issues and she eventually came to live with me when her "friends" back in her retirement community finished taking advantage of her. I promised her I would keep her at home as long as I could manage things

We made a nice long run of it. Eventually her heart disease was causing foot ulcers and amputation was going to be required. This led me to start looking into a facility, but with her memory issues - we had no chance explaining things in the 5 year look back they put her though

She died at my home before they finished the financial evaluation
