Record beef prices raise Memorial Day cookout costs

Beef prices set records last month at U.S. grocery stores, and economists expect they will climb further as demand increases during the summer grilling season that traditionally begins with cookouts on Memorial Day on Monday.

Higher prices hit consumers who are increasingly nervous about the economic impact of President Donald Trump's trade policy and after Washington halted cattle imports from Mexico over a pest called New World screwworm, which could hike up beef prices further by tightening the cattle supply.

One consumer feeling the pinch is DeAndrea Chavis, an artificial intelligence analyst in Raleigh, North Carolina, who buys ground beef nearly every week to prep tacos and other dishes for lunch but lately is making smaller portions because of rising prices.

Gas is down 45 cents a gallon.
My grocery store has lots of sales and reduced prices,
For example,
I paid a dollar less for the same hamburger buns I've been buying all along.

Cage free eggs $4.09 a dozen compared to Biden's 8$ a dozen for store brand.
American Cheese at the deli down $1.00 a lb.
Etc, etc.

As an added bonus, this Memorial Day we don’t have an anti-American senile President that made our Military as weak as he could. Or was it Hunter or Jill or Obama or who knows, maybe Oprah?

The OP is hilarious, you libtards are digging deep, trying to find anything to rattle Trump voters. Today's pathetic click-bait bombshell.......it’s burgers. It's almost a scandal, ‘Those Trumpsters will feel the burn this weekend.' ROFLMFAO,

Guano, go buy yourself some ham.

Are you speaking of rural areas or urban inner cities...There's no lack of stores here...

^ ^ ^

And this is what passes for empathy in the Trump Cult. "I* don't have a problem so no one else does either." This is the same person who said during the George Floyd protests and riots "None of MY Black neighbors feels oppressed," as though she polled them. Gods. The ugliness.

I do not buy steak at Krogers ... While there are sales...It is not the best quality... But
That's just my personal taste and choice.... Actually I don't buy any meat at Krogers.... I buy local.. OSU is my favorite...

Right, and I'm Mata Harei's ghost.

You have no idea how haughty and pompous you sound. "THere are amazing sales everywhere so people can just buy on sale" but "*I* don't buy meat at Kroger because *I* am a queen and eat like one." Gods, again.

Today joIn me in honoring the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Their courage and commitment will never be forgotten....they fought for us all...

Its a multiday tour of Costco New Strips and buttermilk marinated chicken breasts done on the Weber for us.

There was a period in our history when kids would be dragged from their homes via the draft. Since the seventies, typically during extended periods of peace, the nation's youth choose to sign up for a variety of reasons.

It's hard to argue that anyone who served after WW2 did anything to 'protect our freedom'. Often, quite the contrary.

The best way to protect our freedom right now is to rid the nation of trump.

I'm sorry you feel that way. But that is your choice.... always remember why you have that choice. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/191iwHkjPf/

You are really taking this personally.
Personally?

You started this by calling me a liar, and illustrated exactly how ignorant you are re. the plight of many areas with respect to access to quality food at a good price. If you happen to be in that category, you are unfortunate. That explains why you are both, so ignorant, and so grouchy all the time.

I'll tell you something personal...we eat like absolute kings at a fraction of the price that you do. While you're eating store brand hot dogs, we're eating quality food.

I'll eat a little extra in your honor.

What choice? How many had no choice when Cheney committed war crimes in Iraq?

Remember new mothers who got dragged into an illegal war after already completing their service?
Going to war with 'the army we have instead of the army we want' according to Rummy.

In 2004, the U.S. Army recalled 5,600 former soldiers from retirement to active duty in Iraq. This recall was the first time since the Gulf War that the Pentagon had to tap into the Individual Ready Reserve pool. The recalled soldiers were required to serve for a minimum of 12 months, and likely for 18 months.

The arrogance of you marxists never ceases to amaze me. As if you are the only ones who know how to do things or find good deals.

Hey pinhead. In case you didn't look, your coupon expired. Also, you have to buy other things to get that deal. Stores do that all the time. They are called loss leaders. My guess is that what you bought for $25 was marked up substantially to make up for this sale.

But you rock on coupon clipper

You are so cute when you backpedal. Now this is about Marxists? Now go back and read my first post...before I started kicking your ass all over this thread. I stated that there are areas in this nation where the OP absolutely applies. People are paying high prices for meat and other food. It has nothing to do with intelligence, which is pretty ironic coming from one of the dumbest fucks on this board. Twice you referenced intelligence in a discussion about food pricing across the nation. I guess you're like the Scarecrow from the Wizard Of Oz, lamenting your lack of a brain.

I don't have a problem with high food prices, because we have competition between numerous grocery chains.

The coupon expired???!!!!! You stupid hot dog eating pauper. Did you check the date? Did you read my posts? I clearly stated that we have specials quite often, and I fill the freezer. You are so desperate to prove yourself a moron, you're citing the terms of the sale? It used to be $10 additional purchase. Now it's higher. You might not have the money to spend the $25, but I certainly do. There is always something else that I went to the store for.

The rib roasts go on sale for every holiday. That one was from Christmas. I paid $6.99 (grudgingly) this Easter. I believe they do it on July 4, but if not they will do it for Thanksgiving.

Best if you just apologize for trying to run with the big dogs, and admit that you are wrong.

Again.

As always.

Enjoy your hotdogs today. We have so much chicken/meat/shrimp left over from yesterday, tonight's salad is going to be amazing.

That's not quite an apology, but I certainly shut you up in a hurry.

It's the 21st century. There is no need to clip coupons. Everything is electronic. At least for me.

Enjoy your hot dogs today.

I have nothing to apologize for. You did my bidding

If 'your bidding' is getting totally humiliated after you entered a discussion you had no business being in...then yes. I most certainly did your bidding. As I always do.

You jumped in as you always do, grossly unprepared. Worse yet, you claimed I was lying about what I pay for food. Why would you do that? Perhaps because you're such a fucking moron who simply cannot tell the truth...you believe everyone is?

Why didn't you just stay in the MAGA circle jerk threads instead of trying to join the few intelligent members on this board?

Will you ever learn? Or do you just crave humiliation?

IRR is not retirement. It is a pool of recently discharged enlisted who haven't fulfilled the full first term contract of 8 years' service. So, a soldier might have done 4 years active duty but has four years IRR to do before being fully out of the military--no retirement involved.
