Immigration protesters arrested after blocking Los Angeles street for 4 hours

LOS ANGELES (Associated Press) --
Los Angeles police are arresting protesters who chained themselves together on a downtown street to protest Arizona's new immigration law.

Protest spokesman Nelson Motto says 14 activists locked themselves in a circle Thursday and laid down on a street in front of a federal immigration detention center, blocking traffic for about four hours.

Dozens of helmeted officers surrounded the demonstrators before declaring an unlawful assembly and moving in. No injuries are reported.

Officer Gregory Baek says the protesters will be booked for delaying, resisting and obstructing officers.

The demonstrators oppose Arizona's new law as well as local police cooperation with federal immigration restrictions. They favor legalization of illegal immigrants now in the U.S.

why? for a number of reasons

a. to resolve the situation peacefully

b. some on the police force, especially those in charge, support the protests

c. 4 hours is not that long of time to end something peacefully

i am willing to wager one internet dollar that the percentage of non-whites, eg., 'hispanics' would surprise you....its clear you don't live in an area with many hispanics and you have no hispanic friends who are here legally....

your posts are a good enough indicator, it doesn't matter if youre anonymous....do you really think people can't judge someone from their written words? good lord, do you know how many authors go by pseudonyms....they're basically anonymous authors (many times famous authors who write a different style).....guess what, they are judged on their words...so are you judged here, by your words...

what i find fascinating is that you did not deny a single thing i 'assumed' about you...:)

And you know what? I've read plenty that you've written and judging by your words I've determined that you're not a very smart person. In fact, you're an idiot and you suffer from quite a bad case of the Dunning-Kruger Effect.

Unlawful assembly!!! That law is completely unconstitutional!! The constitution guarantees the right of free assemblage.
