Three Hegseth aides ousted in leak investigation decry 'baseless attacks'

We fight, We win, Am Yisrael Chai
Three former senior advisers to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth decried on Saturday what they called “baseless attacks” after each was escorted from the Pentagon in an expanding probe on information leaks.

Dan Caldwell, a Hegseth aide; Colin Carroll, chief of staff to Deputy Defense Secretary Stephen Feinberg; and Darin Selnick, Hegseth’s deputy chief of staff were among four officials in Hegseth’s inner circle who were ousted this past week.

While the three initially had been placed on leave pending the investigation, a joint statement shared by Caldwell on X said the three were “incredibly disappointed by the manner in which our service at the Department of Defense ended. Unnamed Pentagon officials have slandered our character with baseless attacks on our way out the door.”

“At this time, we still have not been told what exactly we were investigated for, if there is still an active investigation, or if there was even a real investigation of ‘leaks’ to begin with,” the post said.

How can you work for fascists, and then expect fairness and equal treatment under the law to be a principle that is upheld?

My theory is that the entire trump administration are leakers, and they are just turning on each other.
Remember when Pedo Don claimed he only hired the best people? Maybe someone should have asked what he meant by "best". LOL

trump claims to hire the "best people", and then quickly fires them for being extremely incompetent.
So, Rarely Right Walter, if some person is found to be incompetent, he should not be fired.

Perhaps that’s why Uber Eats has not fired you.

"extremely incompetent" being defined as "not sucking up enough".

Trump's cabinet meeting where his staff of "best people" spent the time gushing over him is an example the entire world witnessed. Anyone who needs his ass constantly buttered up is unfit to lead. Trump is a pathetic loser.

America is being destroyed to make trump feel like a big man. I just wish his mother had loved him, so we would not have to go through all this.
I wish Congress would grow a spine and stand against him and his MAGAts.

Republicans have completely become the party of trump. It is sad to watch.

Whatever happens next is 100% the fault(or credit) of trump and the party of trump.
Well, yes, Rarely Right Walter.

Since President Trump was elected president, it is the party of President Trump.

Do you believe it should be the party of Heels Up Harris and Tampon Tim?

It's looking that way but I think many are not true believers but simply weak and afraid of losing their jobs.

I'd go with over 50% but not 100% since there are plenty of people willing to stand against him. They're simply unable to defeat the majority even if that majority is mostly spineless Republican politicians.

I actually brought up the story of these 3 advisors in another thread you started on Monday. The article I referenced was more recent than yours as well, and I think gives a better idea of why they were really ousted. For anyone who'd like to see said article, it's here:

Based on that article, my current theory is that the cause wasn't Politico Reporter Lippman's phone call that's in the title of said article, but what led to said phone call, namely Lippman's contention that Pentagon chief of Staff Joe Kasper was under investigation by the Inspector General. Whether true or not, it seems to have spooked Kasper enough to get the 3 people who were involved in reporting that call to get fired. I don't know if Kasper was ever under investigation, but it -does- appear that someone heard something about Kasper that suggested that he should be. I suspect the same person who heard this bit of information may have tipped off Lippman, meaning that the Inspector General's officer didn't actually have to leak anything, or even have an ongoing investigation. What seems clear to me is that Kasper shot himself in the foot by having these 3 advisors fired, as they were only reporting on Lippman's call.

In this case, I suspect you may well be right. That and Pentagon chief of staff Joe Kasper getting spooked and thinking that firing the people who'd heard he was under investigation would solve his problem:

I just have not seen many people willing to stand up to trump in the Republican Party. One or two people who are retiring, but even they seem fairly afraid.

This is the closest divided House in over a hundred years. If even two or three Republicans broke rank, we would not have the biggest deficit rise ever... But we do have it.
