On May 4th 1970, 4 students were killed and 9 others wounded, by the Ohio National Guard, on the Kent State campus.

GO GUARD!!!

That day was NOT the National Guard's finest day. They opened fire on unarmed students killing 4 including an honors student and a ROTC student, both of whom where not even a part of the protests and one of which was over 100 meters from the national guardsmen that killed her.

is there any point in dumbassed peoples sheeple like mental state where they will wake up and realize that the government is the enemy?

how many incidents of the government killing its citizens does it take?

I think, having been around at that time and knowing people who actually witnessed the events first hand I think a balanced look is only fair.

Nixon was a slime bag. People talk about how bad W was and he was an incompetent mouth breather but he wasn't a fraction of the slime bag lying asshole that Nixon was.

I don't blame the students for being mad. The you men of our country was being asked to fight and die for a war that they were whole sale being lied to about and not just little fibs either. Whoping gran faloon lies.

But the kids at Kent State went way to far. The night before the shooting they rioted causing considerable property damange and concern. Things got completely out of hand and it was an appropriate response by the Governor to send in the National Guard.

What occurred next was a tragedy of errors. The Governor, or who ever made the decision on who to send, sent far to few guardsmen to control the situation. The situation then got out of hand, the crowd was treatening and some of guard members panicked. Tragedy ensued.

If anyone, ultimately, deserves the blame for Kent State it is Richard Millhouse Nixon. But the blame is shared. Many of the students behavied inapprorpiately and violently and created the conditions for the tragedy to occur. The State NG sent in to few troops who were poorly trained for the situation and poorly lead and behaved like bumbling amatures.

Nixon was a more intelligent, even slimier, version of Bush.
