Former friend helped bust Olympia councilman
OLYMPIA — Former Olympia City Councilman Jeff Kingsbury told The Olympian he was the confidential informant who bought marijuana from Councilman Joe Hyer.
Kingsbury says it was a matter of conscience and not politically motivated.
Hyer said he was shocked, dismayed and hurt by the action of someone he considered a friend.
The 37-year-old Hyer was arrested in February, pleaded guilty to unlawful deliver of a controlled substance and was sentenced Monday to 10 days of jail with work release.
Hyer resigned his council seat earlier this month and ended his campaign for Thurston County treasurer.
