Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont has a message for his fellow progressives: Why don’t you shed the Democratic label and run as an independent, the way he does?

“One of the aspects of this tour is to try to rally people to get engaged in the political process and run as independents outside of the Democratic Party,” Mr. Sanders said in the interview on Wednesday. “There’s a lot of great leadership all over this country at the grass-roots level. We’ve got to bring that forward. And if we do that, we can defeat Trumpism and we can transform the political situation in America.”

There are plenty of Dems who agree with him. The plutocrats are winning. We have a government run by billionaires and suck up for billionaires. Sadly, the Trumpys cannot see what the wealthy are doing.
The Trumpys believe the wealthy are going to work for them. They never have. The wealthy ran a plot to overthrow FDR in the 30s. Since they were rich, the trial was secret and the names of those involved in the Banker Plot were never released. But the wealthy are the same. They are striking from inside this time.

Running as an Independent is fine. Bernie is too old to serve anymore. He's 84, and when he croaks, the Republican governor will seat a Republican senator. At least Leahy had the good sense to step down before he did just what I described.

Aside from plutocrats on both sides of the aisle, we have too many elderly legislators. Granted, the young ones on the MAGA side of the aisle are equally delusional. It's clear from recent elections that 'free stuff' doesn't resonate with voters as much as hatred and divisive policies does.

So you blame age instead of the plutocrats taking over the government . FDR ,many times, talked about the wealthy plotting in the background. Teddy did the same talking about a group of wealthy people who were grabbing huge power in the dark. That is why he started the inheritance tax. He said huge fortunes passed along through families are different in kind from one earned through a great business idea.
The idea that a wealthy group has been plotting in the background to remake America to serve them and their fortunes, was well-known for a long time. Now they are doing it.

The elderly stay in office because they reap millions via insider trading. Both sides of the aisle do it, and both sides share the blame. Corporations have owned Democrats for decades, just as they own Republicans
