Schumer, Facing Backlash for Not Forcing a Shutdown, Says He’ll Take ‘the Bullets’

The Republican-led Congress isn’t just watching the Trump administration gobble up its constitutional powers. It is enthusiastically turning them over to the White House.

G.O.P. lawmakers are doing so this week by embracing a stopgap spending bill that gives the administration wide discretion over how federal dollars are distributed, in effect handing off the legislative branch’s spending authority to President Trump.

Add jerkoff Schumer to Trump suckers.

Young Democrats’ Anger Boils Over as Schumer Retreats on Shutdown

Senator Chuck Schumer’s sudden decision on Thursday to support a Republican-written bill to avert a government shutdown so enraged his fellow Democrats that some were already talking about primary challenges to the 74-year-old Democratic leader from New York.

Schumer had a lot to plug in. He did not want a shutdown, but the Red bill is full of very crappy far-right gifts. He also had to figure if they shut down, Trump might declare martial law or assume powers no president should have. Trump does not care about how the government worked in the past. Nor does he care about the future ramifications. The world begins and ends with him. Nobody can trust Trump to do the right thing.

Schumer is what is wrong with the Democratic Party.

Gosh, right wingers like Schumer.
???????

Schumer is awful, but if he did a smart move for his side, then he did a smart move for his side, no matter what my opinion of him is.

It was a "lose/lose" situation for Dems, but Schumer smartly chose the "less of a loss" option (and R's smartly didn't snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, as they are known to do).

Vast majority of Dems were united. They all hate Schumerl

Obviously not.
You don’t but that’s exactly what would happen if there weren’t a handful of level headed Dems in congress.

Within the Senate Democratic Caucus, members recognized that and were unwilling to criticize Mr. Schumer. Some even privately praised him for allowing members to vote “no” while privately hoping that the bill would pass.

Some of them agreed with Mr. Schumer’s argument that a shutdown would give the Trump administration more authority to deem entire agencies and programs “nonessential,” and never bring them back or rehire staff after a furlough.

As we all remember the many hundreds of times over decades that we listened to D's claim that government should never be shut down over lack of money, that there should not even be negotiations over debt limits.
