Beyond that, the landlords were not due rent for time they were not able to rent the apartment. They sold the building mid month, and were not going to rent the apartment at the end of the month. To attempt to get money they were not due, they threatened the tenets.

Even if they failed to pay rent, the way that is handled is by evicting them.

What did the landlords do about this? They THREATENED to call ICE, if they were not paid money. They did not call ICE. They said pay us money or we will call ICE.
So according to you, the landlords were willing to cover up a crime, if they were paid money.
Or maybe they were legal immigrants/US Citizens who just looked a little like they might be illegal aliens. In that case, the landlords threatened them being raided for nothing. Remember sometimes innocent people die when law enforcement raids a house.
