America, "have fun" paying more for your food

That's $5.88 a dozen or about what eggs cost in 1950. Thanks, Harry Truman!

Eggs were $5.88 a dozen in 1950? WTF, Terry. They were under $4 for 18 a couple years ago.
The price of commodities goes up and down. You act like eggs were never before expensive, or for that matter other food items. Biden's administration was largely responsible for the current price increase and you act as though that didn't occur and it's Trump's fault having been in office a few weeks.

^^Thanks for the "Biden did it," response. For the next 4 years....

The Han eat a lot of meat, they are not having any of this "meat shall be a special treat" bullshit.

In America head of cattle per capita has not been lower for 70 years I think I heard.

That certainly sounds like a problem.

It is not that egg prices are soaring after Donnie said it was easy to fix and would quickly take care of it,. It is that a new price level is established. A few years ago burgers were cheap. Who would have expected 15 bucks would become the base price? But once it gets up, if conditions make it so an owner can drop the price, they don't, or at least not where they used to be. Eggs are the same. People are inured to price pain in eggs. When they drop, they will not go back down all the way. But we will feel lucky that we are not paying 12 bucks a doz.

Bacon cheeseburger, endless fries and endless drink is $9.99 at Applebee's...

Terry, I'm sorry you can't follow the conversation, but the bottom line is that your Orange Jesus promised to lower both egg and grocery prices yet he hasn't even attempted to do so. Instead we're getting market destabilizing tariffs, banning transgenders and kowtowing to Russia.

Trump was elected on the #1 issue important to Americans: the economy. Instead, We, the People aren't seeing any improvement.

While you are free to talk about the price of eggs in 1950, I'm certain most rational people can understand the problem.

1950:

A dozen eggs cost $5.14 in 2025 dollars.

Also 1950. $5.93 a dozen for eggs in this add (2025 dollars).
Eggs were $.60 dozen in '50 due in large part to post war inflation. Price controls were lifted in '46, and the govt. began to subsidize some products. Increased demand creates increased prices. Today, a decrease in supply caused by factory farming reduced supply.

Mass production of eggs was in its infancy in 1950.

Unless people are intelligent and stop eating eggs.

If egg prices are still high in 6 to 8 months, then we can talk about Trump being a cause.
We know the cause. The issue is that trump targeted people like yourself when he lied about bringing prices down.

Not unlike the gem 'Health insurance will be much cheaper, and coverage will be much better. IT WILL BE SO EASY'

Then he attempted to take healthcare away from millions of people.

I don't think it's a valid comparison to current prices. For whatever reason chicken was expensive back then -- fewer chickens, maybe? So it would stand to reason that eggs were, too. We seldom ate chicken. In fact, one of my favorite things my mom made was "city chicken," which was veal (!) shaped to look like a drumstick with a stick inserted in it to represent the bone. It came already breaded and she fried it. It wasn't until the 60s -- because of mass farming of poultry? -- that we ate actual chicken more often.

I pay an average of nearly $400 a week
at the supermarket
to feed just two elderly adults and a Welsh Terrier.

Meanwhile, we have malignant oligarchs who can afford to have their own space programs.
If you don't think that America is badly fucked up,
then you can make no cogent argument
that you're not badly fucked up yourself.
