Trump economic approval ratings sag as inflation fears grow

One day we will wake to his obituary :-)

Polls show that Americans’ confidence is slipping in President Trump’s ability to handle the economy – the most important issue in the 2024 election and the one that likely carried Trump to a second presidential term.

Concerns about affordability, jobs, and inflation are weighing on Trump’s economic approval rating against a backdrop of faltering consumer sentiment and flashing economic warning signs, including a negative forecast for first-quarter GDP growth from the Atlanta Fed.

We have some of the best economists in the world to try to fix this... No... trump fired them. Well, we do have the 19 year old grandson of a KGB agent who calls himself "Big Balls." He has been fired from three unpaid internships for stealing, but that was back several months ago.

Get a clue, Walter:

Most Presidents hold a higher approval rating in the first month of their Presidency. Would you accept these actions from Obama?
Obama is not president, Walter.

President Donald Trump has a 52% approval rating after his first month in office, according to the latest Harvard CAPS/Harris survey.

The poll showed that 33% of respondents strongly approved Trump's performance, while another 19% said they somewhat approved his first month in office. An estimated 43% disapproved, the majority of which claimed strong disapproval, while another 5% was undecided.

Trump's support varies significantly across party lines with about 9 in 10 Republicans approving and nearly 8 in 10 Democrats disapproving. Independents, however, were nearly split down the middle.

The White House shared an article claiming the poll showed "massive support for President Trump and his agenda," with the following data included:

  • 81% support deporting criminal illegal immigrants.
  • 76% support a “full-scale effort to find and eliminate fraud and waste in government.”
  • 76% support closing the border with additional security and policies.
  • 69% support keeping men out of women’s sports.
  • 68% support government declaring there are only two genders.
  • 65% support ending race-based hiring in government.
  • 63% support “freezing and re-evaluating all foreign aid expenditures and the department that handled them.”
  • 61% support reciprocal tariffs.
  • 60% support direct U.S. negotiations with Russia to end the war in Ukraine.
  • 59% support cutting government spending already approved by Congress.
  • 57% support ending the ban on new offshore drilling.

Obama is not president, Walter.
Obama was President. When Obame was President, would you have accepted such unilateral and extreme measures from him? Obama certainly had far more support than trump has ever had.

Try to focus, Walter, Obama is no longer relevant and I could not care less what he might have done.

Try harder, Walter.

Donald Trump's Approval Rating Falls in Multiple Polls

Donald Trump's approval rating has taken a hit across multiple polls, signaling growing dissatisfaction with his leadership.

Why It Matters

Trump's falling approval rating could have major implications for his administration, his party and the 2026 midterms. Lower public support may weaken his leverage in Congress, making it harder to pass key policies and maintain party unity. It also signals growing voter dissatisfaction, which could embolden challengers within the Republican Party and energize Democrats ahead of future elections.

At some future date, there might be someone other than trump who is president. That other person might even be a Democrat. Would you be OK with that future Democrat who is President just creating his own budget, and ignoring Congress?

Don’t worry about the future, Walter.

America is no longer controlled by a vegetable and his puppet masters.

President Trump has not created his own budget, Walter.

Who told you that?

CNN Poll: Public remains negative on Trump ahead of address to Congress

The American public’s view of Donald Trump’s presidency and the direction he’s leading the country is more negative than positive just ahead of his first formal address to Congress since returning to office, according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS.

The survey finds that across three basic measures of Trump’s performance on the job – his approval rating, whether he has the right priorities and whether his policies are taking the country in the right direction – the negative side outpaces the positive.

Overall, 52% disapprove of Trump’s performance in office, with 48% approving, about the same as in a CNN poll in mid-February. The poll was completed before Friday’s angry exchange in the Oval Office between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and does not reflect public opinion on that event.

Trump continues to be broadly popular with Republicans (90% of whom approve of his handling of the job) and unpopular among Democrats (90% disapprove), while disapproval among independents is approaching 6 in 10: 41% approve and 59% disapprove. Earlier in February, a similar 43% of independents approved and 56% disapproved.
