I don't know about it being a setup, but I completely agree that Z did himself no favours by doing what he did. Ofcourse, there are no good options for Zelensky at this point. His best option after Russia's military operation started had been to take the deal that Russia offered him a few weeks after the start:

One of our senators nearby New York State, Connecticut’s Richard Blumenthal, said this out loud. Mitt Romney said this out loud. It’s the best money America can spend. No Americans are dying. It’s unreal.

I get it that you watched the entire Trump-Zelenskyy interaction. Now I'm going to tell you that you need to watch Trump's commentary afterwards; he explains it all very nicely.
After listening to Trump's explanation, watch the Trump-Zelenskyy brawl again and you'll see very clearly that Zelenskyy is dead set on lobbying for continued aid, monetary and weapons, to continue the war and to defeat Russia. Trump is fatigued at trying to get Zelenskyy off the war path and onto the path for peace. Trump is troubled that Zelenskyy doesn't seem to care about the vast numbers of people who are dying and seems to only care about drawing more people into prolonging the war so that many more people can die. This is not an option for Trump.
As such, since Zelenskyy would not back off the warpath whatsoever, Trump saw no reason to continue discussions and used the meeting to openly express his frustrations to Zelenskyy and to the press.
