A farmer writes: With Trump and Musk driving U.S. policy, farmers have been played for suckers

We fight, We win, Am Yisrael Chai
Many farmers voted for Trump because he promised less regulation and greater prosperity for America’s farmers. The hard truth is that, like most of the folks who voted for Trump, farmers failed to do their homework about the reality of the new administration. All of this has occurred in the context of higher input costs and tight margins for virtually all crops.

We are now living and working in an environment where the only constant is chaos. Chaos produces uncertainty, and that leads to loss of trust. The buyers of U.S. farm products are not going to deal with nations that cannot be trusted. There are plenty of options in today’s world for those buyers to bypass the United States. Why on God’s green earth would they put up with the insanity that we have in Washington now?

It is almost laughable that some Republicans have come to the defense of Trump’s proposed tariffs, and that some of those same Republicans have promised to help the farmers who feel the impact.

And like last time it will be the taxpayer that ends up bailing them out.
With these tariffs everything we buy will be going up , MAGAS believe Trump when he says it will be the exporting countries that pay the tariffs when all they will do is pass them on to the US consumer ,
And on top of that Trump is going to put tariffs on oil that will drive prices up even more, these farmers use a lot of fuel and will pass those costs on to the consumer driving up food costs, and then add those cost on to the truckers that deliver everything we buy. it is a fact if you bought it it was on a truck some time in its life.
Trump and his tariffs are just going to drive up costs of everything and we ALL will be paying the costs.

apparently, foreign food aid was worth billions of dollars to American farmers.

They're not the only ones who will pay the price for putting a corrupt despot back into the WH. I'd feel sorry for them, but I don't. Elections have consequences.

Making cuts that will result in subsidies?

Stupid, really stupid.

Yep. Our farmers are incredibly productive. The domestic market just isn't large enough to keep them in business. But Trump's taking care of that, isn't he?
Maybe in the long run it's better for people to feel the consequences of their voting choices.

It was easy and painless for MAGA morons to sit around howling about critical race theory. It's entirely different for them to stop being paid by USAID for their crop commodities.

Well what did Trumps tariffs do to them last time?
I guess you have a VERY short memory , it was the US tax payer that bailed the farmers out because of Trumps BS.
and the " cuts' and TARIFFS that will hurt them .
I guess cutting programs like food stamps , that help poor people and the low income workers put food on the table just might hurt the American farmer seeing people will not be able to afford to buy as much food as they did.

It's going to be a cascade of catastrophe, wait for it. The MAGAT garbage voted for Trump because eggs (and other groderies) cost too much. If we don't continue to bail out the farmers, they go out of business. When we have fewer growers, we have fewer crops and fewer things that depend on those crops -- like eggs, meat animals, and ethanol. What happens when we have fewer of anything? The prices of what we do have go up. Sometimes way up. This is our future if this craziness continues.

Oh it will be a LOT more then just farmers.
I wonder if Trump is ready to bail out the auto industry, his 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico could drive Ford out of business and the other tariffs he says he wants could hurt the other two US auto makers.
This is going to be a real shit show he Trump goes through with it.

Phantasmal is a lefty

What don't you MAGAS understand?
Tariffs are NOT paid by the exporting countries those countries only pass that cost on to the consumer and it will be the AMERICAN consumer that will be paying them causing the price of just about EVERYTHING you buy go up.
I guess you like to see the AMERICAN poor and low income workers suffer even more then they are now.
