Fact Check: USAID Did NOT Spend Over $8 Million On Politico, LLC

The remora of JPP
Did USAID spend over $8 million on Politico, LLC, as social media posts imply? No, that's not true: The government spending database only shows $44,000 in two transactions. Both were subscriptions, not grants.

Then they will have no problem meeting payroll, will they?

While Politico did receive cash from USAID, it was hardly the government agency that has given the most to Politico. The Department of Health and Human Services leads the way, with $1.37 million followed by $1.35 million from the Department of the Interior, according to USAspending.gov.

The Department of Energy has given Politico $1.29 million, the Department of Agriculture has given $552,024 and the Department of Commerce has given $485,572.

They paid their American employees several hours late, due to what they claim is a clerical error. It is not unusual for pay to be delayed by several hours, but in the current atmosphere everyone is worried.

I have been in companies that have a problem meeting payroll, and the delays in getting paid is not measured in hours, but in weeks. If they can meet payroll within a few hours, that is not a problem meeting payroll, that is a problem getting the funds in the right place at the right time.

Politico makes over $4 billion a year in revenue. $44k is nothing to them. It is literally 0.001% of their revenue. ExxonMobile just increased its payments to Politico by $17 million, so even if the entire US Government stops buying their services, they are still ahead.

Sorry, but this is not a fact-based board. If Right wing news says it, it has to be true.

Good, then you no longer worry about their future.
Done deal.

Politico, or Axel Springer SE as they are known outside the USA, is in fine shape. I have not ever been worried about their future. ExxonMobile just increased their payments to Politico by $17 million.

Intelligence services is very lucrative with a high barrier to entry. It is a good business to be in.

The thing about data is that it is often expensive to collect, but cheap to copy. For the US Government to collect the data itself would cost hundreds of millions of dollars a year, so $22k a year is not too much.
Any port in a storm. The government obviously is wasting hundreds of billions a year. It needs to stop. Making excuses, be it for small amounts or large, says YOU are part of the problem, NOT part of the solution.

And yet there is no proof of this waste? Odd how something can be obvious, and without proof at the same time.

Your demanding hundreds of millions in waste to save $22k a year. That is not a good way to cut a budget.

Cool, then they will need no more $$$ from the Federal government.
