Says the guy who thinks the word abridged is in the second amendment. Maybe if you knew what you were talking about, people might take you a little bit more seriously. But you almost never seem to know what the hell you're talking about. I mean seriously, you're somehow claiming the second amendment says you can only have guns locked in an armory. When it clearly says nothing of the kind. You just make shit up as you go, like most libs. Or, regurgitate what you're told to regurgitate.

I strongly disagree with fellow progressives on this issue.
The Amendment is interpreted as it was meant to be interpreted when written.
The right to own firearms is part and parcel of being an American resident in good standing.

That the Amendment was never re-written to reflect modern firearms and modern times is the issue.
Without any new amendment ratified, SCOTUS can't just guess what the founders would have wanted in these modern times.
That wasn't the founders' job, anyway. That was this generation's job. We have to ratify new language... if we want to.

Constitutional amendments require far, far more consensus to ratify than anything we'll see in our lifetimes in this highly polarized America.
Right now, in fact, America's very survival can't be taken for granted. Americans voted to blow it all up.

In any case, living in America means that each of us has an exponentially higher chance of getting shot to death than anybody anywhere else in the world.

So what?
We still have the best food as far as I can see.
Worry about what you can change, and we're not anywhere close to changing our gun culture.

Have you never been to France? It's an art form there. Of the 25 countries that I have visited, France has the best cuisine. No contest.

The Heller decision is rock solid.

It is what the Trumppers are doing with Birthright Citizenship. The Constitution clearly says "under the jurisdiction thereof."

I've been to France and starved on their overpriced tiny portions.
They love to put near empty plates in front of you.
It's no wonder that Europeans are such lousy tippers.

America had to do one thing right,
and it chose food over healthcare, education, and workers' / consumers' rights.

Even shitkicker America has great barbeque to prevent it from being 100% useless.

The founders didn't write the 14th amendment. All of them were dead when it was written. You seem to be completely ignorant of history. Then if you bothered to read US v Kim Wong Ark it includes the legislative debates that certainly show that children of all kinds born in the US would become citizens and they intended that.
