Why should the Dept. of Education be retained?

Give her a break. She's been serving teachers lunch for over 30 years. She's learned a thing or two over that time.

She knows what an IEP is because she was given new ones every year. From the quality of her posts, we can tell that the language arts IEP was ineffective. lol

Real teachers, of course, understand why the Dept. of Education is important to our kids and to our future.

What part of that law were you required to teach? You were required to accept disabled students to receive federal funds but it didn't require you to teach anything other than what your state required to be taught.
If I am wrong then tell us what you were specifically required to teach your students by federal law.

She can't. She was never a teacher, although she worked in a school setting and knows some jargon. Her name does not appear on Ohio's state board of education website where one can search for educators' credentials, education, certifications.

The school lunch lady pontificating on the subject.

The fact that she cannot answer simple questions but instead keeps referring to websites tells us that she really has little clue what an IEP is, what it's for, why it exists. Two of my kids had IEPs. One of those kids is herself a special ed teacher with a masters. She writes IEPs for most of her students; it's part of her job. She could answer these questions w/o having to lean on websites, because she actually KNOWS what they are and what they do. Toxic? Not so much.

I wish I had counted the number of IEPs I've written... Our program is absolutely one of the biggest reasons the DoE federal must be revised, revamped, and renovated... Not only for the kids, but for the teachers.... Very long overdue... long long long overdue...
