Why should the Dept. of Education be retained?

I am amused that you believe that the Government doesn't have a Treasury Department.

I'm amused that you think the Treasure department has access to personal records in other departments that they are not allowed to access under current law.

If you have a contract to pay back the US Department of Education and that entity no longer exists then you can't honor your contract because there is no one to pay.

Who can start collections? The DoE no longer exists and they are the ones that hold the repayment contract.

Can you show me where education has nothing to do with general welfare?
This is a clearly absurd answer. Loans and debt are often sold to third parties so who you are paying changes, even if the terms of the loan remain the same. If the DoE ceased to exist the loan still would and it would be transferred to some other entity within the government, say within the Treasury department, for debt collection and maintenance.

Your loan doesn't have to be in collections or behind in payment for this to happen either.

It would take an act of Congress to give the power to collect those loans to another agency.
If you eliminate the DoE where do the records go? There is no place they can go by law since they are personal records and no one else outside the DoE is supposed to have access to them.
The agency currently charged with collecting on student loans is the Bureau of the Fiscal Services.

So, your loan would simply be transferred in full to Treasury for collection should the DoE disappear.

You can't transfer Federal loans between departments without a law allowing you to do so. What law do you think allows DoE loans to be transferred to another department? How do you transfer loans if you shut down the department before a law exists to transfer those loans? There would no longer be a DoE and no one around to access the data that is supposed to be stored only in the DoE.

The DoE just makes the loans. The Treasury department collects on them for the DoE. If the DoE disappears, the loan payments still go to Treasury. It's simple. Which part of that don't you get?

What part of that law were you required to teach? You were required to accept disabled students to receive federal funds but it didn't require you to teach anything other than what your state required to be taught.
If I am wrong then tell us what you were specifically required to teach your students by federal law.
The IEP deternines what we must teach... Have you
Ever seen one... Or are you familiar with the process?

I guess you didn't read your the first paragraph in your link

The U.S. Department of the Treasury helps the U.S. Department of Education, Federal Student Aid collect defaulted loans through its Treasury Offset Program. It does not service these debts through its Cross-Servicing Program. To speak to a Department of Education Customer Service Representative about your defaulted student loan, please call the toll-free customer service number below:

Which part of DoE services the loans don't you get? It's like saying because you use your bank to pay your bills if the utility company disappears your bank will just keep collecting the money.

It's obvious it could and likely would. Your hysteria is just that and nothing more.

You still haven't told me what you had to teach that wasn't mandated by your state. Waiting for you to provide that.

State law can mandate more protection than IDEA but not less.

The federal government mandates that we write the IEP ..
And the IEPs mandate what we teach..
The links explain it... Who develops the IEP format? Everything is guided by the federal laws...

What must be included in the IEP that is taught?

What I see is that the IEP is individualized for each student. So what is mandated to teach all students by the federal government? You can't seem to answer the question. What the IEP appears to be is a student protection to prevent schools from simply not teaching them at all.

You obviously do not understand what an IEP is... Understandable.... it's a very complicated process...Read the information in the links that I gave you... It is much more than simply not teaching them at all... Everything
that we teach depends on what is included in the IEP... You will have to look at one to understand and get answers to all your questions... Every one is different... https://www.ed.gov/sites/ed/files/parents/needs/speced/iepguide/iepguide.pdf
