For those complaining about cancelling USAID

and saying that Trump doesn't have the authority, I ask you one question. Find me one statute where these words exist as it pertains to USAID. "We establish USAID as an agency of............."

No such words exist anywhere. It was never a duly created office by Congress. It was created by Executive Order. It was "allowed" by Congress, but that is different than saying it had to be created. JFK just chose to take advantage of it and every succeeding President did as well. President Trump is within his power to dismantle it as he sees fit.

Now, unless Congress acts, in four years if there is a demalquedacrat back in Office, with a stroke of a pen, they can recreate it and those in MAGA will have nothing to say. That is how it works.

Congress passes bills to establish agencies. They are law. Trump does not have the power to stop whatever he feels like. That is the checks and balances. Trump is trying to destroy that. He wants to be a king.

Congress required the president to establish an agency to administer their law passed by legislation to execute foreign assistance.


"Congress passed the Foreign Assistance Act on September 4, 1961, which reorganized U.S. foreign assistance programs and mandated the creation of an agency to administer economic aid."

Wikipedia is your source? Post the actual wording from the legislation. They did not require. They allowed for it which is why it was done by EO. Nice try

So FOX didn't actually give you all the information about the history of USAID. FOX only cherry picked the information that was helpful to Trump.

You didn't provide any source at all. You just made a claim.

The best evidence on this thread is that Congress required the president to create an agency to administer their foreign assistance law.

Wrong, They did not require it. But, we will see when you lose in court. The funny thing is that you didn't even know it existed until now. That is how ignorant you are.

What is even funnier is that you criticize Fox News (which I never watch), yet you tried to post Wikipedia as a reliable source of information. That is funny.

Whatever you read on FOX, they obviously neglected to give you the complete information on the foundation of USAID- they only gave you part of the information that would be most favorable to Trump, but unfortunately would leave you with egg on your face.

Of course no such statute exists using those exact words because the Government doesn't create statutes based on their acronym. It uses the actual name of the agency.

Unless abolished pursuant to the reorganization plan submitted under section 6601 of this title, and except as provided in section 6562 of this title, there is within the Executive branch of Government the United States Agency for International Development as an entity described in section 104 of title 5.

It's you that seems to be ignorant. USAID was first created by Executive Order in 1961 but then was made an official agency by Congress in 1998 when they passed the law creating the agency.
