Many politicians try to play like they are regular joe's, that's nothing new. Bush definitely did it.

The thing with Palin is she didn't come from money and her family didn't really have money up to this year when she started her speaking tour and wrote her book. So she actually had to lead a 'average joe' type life.

wow...you really have gone off the deep end...to claim you haven't called anyone a hypocrite or hypocritical...you've called me a hypocrite, i've seen posts where you call republicans hypocritical and i have no doubt you've called other posters hypocritical

to act all innocent is truly stupid and blatently dishonest

i am talking about the hypocrisy in speeches, i never claimed the media never goes after liberals, you are once again engaging in dishonest hackery. serious, you need to chill out and reflect on life.

YurTroll's advice is worth exactly what you paid for it. BTW, he means that you must do as he says, not as he does.

I have occasion to call people hypocritical, but it isn't really something I'm all that concerned with. You, on the other hand, throw it out all the time. In virtually every thread on any topic you find someone to call a hypocrite.

And I used the John Edwards example for a reason. The media was all over him for charging speaking fees for a speech about poverty back when he was campaigning for the Democratic nomination.

Bingo, we have a winner!!

But isn't the difference that she's not running for office while he was?

Looks like Ms. Palin's been taking lessons from "Queen Pelosi" </sarcasm> and Mariah Carey. Woo-hoo! Pass the bendy straws!

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – A document fished out of a California state university trash bin last week has prompted a state investigation into the university's foundation arm and its refusal to disclose details related to Sarah Palin's upcoming speech at the school.

On Tuesday, California Attorney General Jerry Brown said his office would look into the finances of the California State University, Stanislaus Foundation, as well as allegations that the nonprofit organization violated public disclosure laws by keeping details of Palin's contract secret.

Palin is scheduled to speak at a June 25 gala hosted by the foundation to mark the university's 50th anniversary.

Brown's investigation was prompted, in part, by a group of CSU Stanislaus students who retrieved five pages of the contract from a campus trash bin last Friday after hearing administrators were engaged in shredding documents.

The contract detailed the former Alaska governor's requirements for her visit, including first-class flights from Anchorage to California — if she flies commercial. If not, "the private aircraft MUST BE a Lear 60 or larger ...," the contract specifies.

Palin also must be provided with a suite and two single rooms in a deluxe hotel near the campus in Turlock in the Central Valley. During her speech, her lectern must be stocked with two water bottles and bendable straws.

The document, dated March 16, does not include compensation details for Palin, who commands speaking fees as high as $100,000. Her appearance at the university gala is expected to draw a large crowd, with tickets selling for $500 each.

"This is not about Sarah Palin," Brown said in a prepared statement Tuesday. "The issues are public disclosure and financial accountability in organizations embedded in state-run universities."

Well big whoop de do. The only thing I see here is that CSU may have violated disclosure laws as per Palin....What in the world was unreasonable about any of her requests?

thanks for admitting you lied when you ""asked"" when i have called someone a hypocrite....it is not true i say it as often as you claim, further, when i say it, it is absolutely true, so, once again, until you stop saying it period, you have no moral highground to whine about others calling anyone out for hypocrisy

your whiny dishonest hackery shines through nigel...instead of focusing on what i said, all you've done is bitch and moan about me...when you're ready to stop the lies and debate, let me know

So did bush. They were both trying to appeal to the majority of voters. Do you remember the thing about bush was "he's the kind of guy we can sit around and drink beer with". Both were born with silver spoons in their mouths but Kerry had a more reserved air and came off as standoffish.

True. But do you remember the same about Edwards? Came from a lower middle-class background, first person in his family to attend college, a former "average joe" ... and he was raked over the coals for getting a designer haircut. So nobody's picking on Palin any more than all the others out there, it just depends which side one is on.

Oh, was that the point?

I thought it was about ignoring public disclosure laws, and displaying Palin's crumbling facade with regard to identifying as an average American.
I think any average American who's followed around by jealous paparazzi would insist on a first class seat as part of a compensation package. Wouldn't you?
