Gaza hs 37 hospitals, 17 are still operating.

why does Gaza need so many hospitals?

That's one hospital for every 1.3 square miles. In Massachusetts, perhaps the most advanced healthcare system in the US, the ratio is one hospitals per 87 square miles. Manhattan is three times as densely populated as Gaza, and it has only 24 hospitals.

You can't turn around in Gaza without bumping into a hospital. Why is that? What other possible use could Gaza have for so many hospitals?

Hmm. I wonder.

Sorry not 17, it's only 16 of the region's 36 hospitals remain partially operational

As per family there and the UN

Or being used to launch rockets and store weapons, which were found

Israel left Gaza in 2005, HAMAS has been firing rockets into Israel, Israel says no more

If Israel wanted to commit genocide on the Gazans it would only take a week

Stop listening to Hamas

I'd want to know who builds and staffs them. International aid organizations? Iran *wink wink*?

If they are being used to shelter terrorists under the guise of caring for the sick, that's pretty fucking despicable.

yep they do and did

Hamas member tells IDF interrogators that gunmen operated in Kamal Adwan Hospital

Operative says terrorists saw north Gaza hospital as ‘safe shelter,’ used it as armory; unclear whether statements were made under duress, and whether other detainees agree

A-Sharif said the operatives would move weapons to and from the hospital, as well as set out from the medical center at night to carry out surveillance operations and patrols.

“From the hospital the grenades and mortars were given out, to attack the tanks, for ambushes, and for tunnels,” he said.

In the last week, there has been intense discussion focused on Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, reportedly one of the last functioning hospitals in the area. This has been part of a broader ongoing debate in the war between Hamas and Israel, on the status of hospitals in wartime and under what circumstances they might become objects of legitimate military operations.

Under International Humanitarian Law, it is a foundational principle that hospitals receive special protected status. For example, Article 8(2) of the Rome Statute prohibits “intentionally directing attacks against” hospitals provided “they are not military objectives.” Article 11 of the Second Protocol to the Geneva Conventions provides that medical units shall be “protected at all times.”

However, this protection ceases if they are “used to commit hostile acts.”

These rules of international law are recognized by Israel and implemented during its conflict with Hamas in Gaza.

Hamas, a ruthless terrorist organization, operates without any regard to the norms of international law or value of human life, with a longstanding practice of systematically embedding their operations in hospitals, using civilians as human shields and building military tunnels underneath hospitals.

They need so many hospitals because of the appalling conditions, it’s a war zone! They aren’t full hospitals, they are more like clinics.

“This sanitation catastrophe is evident in the resurgence of polio, a disease that had been absent from the Gaza Strip for 25 years, and is a direct result of people being forced to live in unsanitary conditions and the destruction of water and sanitation infrastructure by Israeli forces during the war.Nov 11, 2024”

How a year of war has devastated Gaza's civilian infrastructure

I listen to Doctor’s Without Borders, a highly respected organization which is helping man the facilities in Gaza. It is not Hamas.

More places for Hamas to hide their weapons. They sure as hell are there to help people get better.
