The reason why they didn't noisily issue the revision is because they claimed violent crimes dropped by 1.something percent in 2022 from 2021, but in reality it increased by several percent, destroying all the claims that crime has been dropping.
So they issued a correction and news sources everywhere immediately picked it up as was bound to occur since the FBI can't blow its nose in public without the news media knowing about it. The "quietly" is Right wing media trying to make something out of nothing.

Um, no They did not issue any correction, noisy or otherwise. They stealth edited the stats with no notice issued to anyone, and nothing stated on their monthly press releases.
It was only discovered by someone because of a small footnote on one of their pages that says the crime data was updated with no statement on what was actually updated. You have to actually re-download the data, compare it to previous data, and then work out the differences to see the actual stats and differences. That is what 'quietly' means, you utter twat.
