A president’s job is to address and confront threats to the United States, whether from foreign states, or from domestic terrorists.
It may be an uncomfortable fact for some – one that they might prefer be swept under the carpet – but, by far the largest domestic terrorist threat in this country is from rightwing, anti-government whack jobs. There is no measurable left wing domestic terrorism in this country, outside of some property damage incidents by whacked tree huggers. They ain't murdering anyone.
It’s a matter of time before there’s another rightwing domestic terrorist bombing or mass murder, and they will find the writings of Michael Savage and Rush Limbaugh in the perp’s car trunk.
There are no organizations, or individuals on the American left in the last few decades who have committed homicidal bombings, and mass murder. These rightwing terrorist acts have been relatively routine since the 1990s, and appear to escalate whenever a Democrat is in office….particularly, a black Democrat.
While there are semi-respectable conservatives in the media, there is a vast network of rightwing talk radio and cyber space that are over-the-top and inflammatory in their rhetoric. Limbaugh, Beck, Michael Savage, Coulter-geist. And their rhetoric is routinely couched in violent imagery; aka, abortion is a Holocaust, and a woman’s right to choose is the equivalent of mass genocide.
When you have rightwing nutjobs who think liberalism is the root of all evil, that kind of rhetoric is going to play a part in enabling their fantasies and conspiracy theories, and aid and abet driving them over the edge. Sorry man, that’s just a fact.
Do some liberals engage in inflammatory rhetoric. God damn right. But you know what? It doesn’t appear to contribute to any leftys wanting to blow up buildings or engage in mass murder. So, it’s not a problem a president has to address. A president doesn’t have to address incivility on the radio. Bottom line: liberals can be uncivil; it’s never been demonstrated to contribute to liberal lunacy in terms of blowing shit up or killing people. That can’t be said of the Reich Wing.
Right-Wing TN Church Shooter is Fan of O'Reilly, Hannity, Savage
On Sunday, 58-year-old Jim Adkisson entered the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church during a children's performance of the musical “Annie Jr.” In a guitar case, he carried a shotgun and 76 rounds. Adkisson killed two church members, Greg McKendry (60) and Linda Kraeger (61), and wounded six more before he was wrestled to the ground as he tried to reload.
…..how do we know that Adkisson was a consumer of popular right-wing thinking? Anticipating that he would be shot by police, Adkisson left the door to his house open to make it easier for authorities to enter. He didn’t want his motive and the ideology it sprang from to be a secret. From the Knoxville News Sentinel:
Inside [Adkisson’s] house, officers found "Liberalism is a Mental Health Disorder" by radio talk show host Michael Savage, "Let Freedom Ring" by talk show host Sean Hannity, and "The O'Reilly Factor," by television talk show host Bill O'Reilly.

During the interview Adkisson stated that he had targeted the church because of its liberal teachings and his belief that all liberals should be killed because they were ruining the country, and that he felt that the Democrats had tied his country's hands in the war on terror and they had ruined every institution in America with the aid of major media outlets. Adkisson made statements that because he could not get to the leaders of the liberal movement that he would then target those that had voted them into office. Adkisson stated that he had held these beliefs for about the last ten years.
Adkisson's manifesto[11] also cited the inability to find a job,
and that his food stamps were being cut.
Note: Okay, that last sentence is totally hilarious, in a morbid way. Is anything funnier that a rightwing nut job complaining that his government food stamps were being cut?
