Costco Faces MAGA Boycott

Costco is facing threats of a boycott from supporters of President-elect Donald Trump after executives refused to dismantle diversity, equity and inclusion policies at the request of shareholders.

While DEI initiatives in the workplace became commonplace over the past decade, they have recently faced more scrutiny from both a legal and cultural standpoint—with some companies rolling back their DEI initiatives following boycotts led by conservative consumers.

Project 2025, a series of policies supported by several backers of the incoming Trump administration, lists abolishing DEI practices in both the public and private sectors among the core goals of the next conservative government.

After a group of shareholders called for a "report on the risks of maintaining DEI efforts," the board defended the company's existing policies, saying, "Our efforts around diversity, equity and inclusion follow our code of ethics."

The defense was met with anger from many Trump supporters, with some calling for a boycott on social media.

In my experience the COSTCO shopping experience has not gotten worse yet, even though its employees are increasingly freaks.

This will be amazing. Probably all of the conservatives I know shop at Costco and love Costco. Are they going to cancel their memberships because of DEI? I sincerely doubt it.

Its worth noting that the only alternative is Sams Club/Walmart (which are not even where I live)...which is almost as bad on the DIE front....and by most accounts not as good as Costco.

Blow it out your rear end Guano. This is more of your bullshit. Project 2025 is not a Trump agenda.

This isn't like boycotting Target. Club stores offer big savings for people who buy a lot of junk, so they'll be spiting themselves. I say they'll vocalize a boycott, but refuse to do so.

I think you're right. They'll yell and shout and stomp their feet, but Costco clearly doesn't care. I think all of this will lead to nothing.
$20 says most MAGAts can't afford a Costco membership, can't afford to shop there and were never members to begin with.

Matt Gaetz is gonna be AG and he has a membership at Costco. See your bullshit Boycott is over.

I used to belong to Sam's Club, but in retirement, never spent enough to justify the cost and the drive to get there. Great for families and businesses. For retirees, not so much.
Same here, we don’t use stuff in bulk anymore. I also don’t have the storage I did in Alaska. You can’t store anything in your garage in Texas! The cans rust and things like sugar turn into a big hard block. I’ve never seen anything like it. And weevils WTH? Never experienced these things in Alaska.
