Health care backlash

This is fucking hilarious. We've had rightwingers on this very board issue pathetic threats that they are going to start killing the innocent family members of representatives who voted for this bill.
I can guarantee you that your thug enforcement agents will have the same attitude about the innocent family members who are in non compliance. Whats worse is they'll never be charged with a crime and you'll support it. so get the fuck off your high horse and stfu.

I was a neocon Bush-voter when I went in. On Tuesday of graduation week, we were in a room prepping for the parade, and the TIs (most were openly for Bush) stuck their heads in and announced Bush's re-election results over Kerry. Everyone cheered except for 3 guys.

What Christie fails to realize is that voters turned out for Obama only because they wanted to throw out the party that gave us the Iraq War. In 2006, it was a combination of the war and the year of rampant GOP corruption. I myself spoke favorably of McCain (I caucused for Paul, and his bumper sticker rests on my bedroom door), because I knew it would piss off the neocons and other undesirables.

Now its 2010, corrupt Dems are being caught all over the place, and Obama just got something expensive (and statist) through the Congress. Good luck in November.

<sigh>

"One of Obama's campaign promises was to reform health care. Starting in 2007 Obama made reform a centerpiece of his campaign. Americans knew that Obama was determined to reform health care, it wasn't a secret. And being fully aware that this was one of the major features of his agenda, Americans elected him president, 52.9% to McCain's 45.7%.

Conservatives like to point to polls showing that "most" Americans are against health care but the only poll that counts shows that the majority supported Obama's agenda, including health care. Nothing was sneaked by the population, and that's what's killing you guys."

My own opinion is that people voted on the economy first, with the war being a distant second. People were desperate to see a way out of the death spiral caused by bush's foreign and domestic policies. Maybe conservatives should have curbed him at the polls in 2004 but they still bought into the fiction, and the rest is history.

I saw the complete willful ignorance of most liberals with middle east policy. it was easily a slow progression to libertarianism.

I thought libertarians didn't support pre-emptive wars.

3.1 National Defense

We support the maintenance of a sufficient military to defend the United States against aggression. The United States should both abandon its attempts to act as policeman for the world and avoid entangling alliances. We oppose any form of compulsory national service.

WTF are you talking about, you extreme partisan hack. I've never seen any such thing on this board.

Then you're being willfully blind, because those posts exist.

we don't. but we also firmly believe that a country has every right to defend itself. Calls for sanctions against Israel (forgive me AHZ) because they were trying to protect themselves from palestinian and iranian terrorism were insane at best, downright suicidal at worst.

The Republicans are being threatened with death. It's not just one party.

Someone shot through Cantor's window, Monday, I believe.

I'm shocked to learn that Cantor lied.

The police say it was a random bullet that was shot up into the air and happened to hit a window in a building cantor has an office in, on it's downward trajectory. Bottom line: no one "shot at" Cantor, or at his office.

Bullet that hit Cantor office was randomly fired

Associated Press

“A bullet was shot through the window of my campaign office in Richmond this week, and I’ve received threatening e-mails,“ Cantor said. He refused to release details, however, saying it would only encourage more threats, and refused to take questions.

Later Thursday, however, Richmond police said in a news release that the bullet had been fired into the air around 1 a.m. Tuesday. It finished its random arc back to earth at a sharp downward trajectory, breaking a window pane on the bottom floor of the two-story brick building where Cantor’s campaign leases the top floor.

The spent bullet hit the floor about one foot inside the shattered pane. No one was in the building at the time.

Right, because it is the norm to just randomly fire off guns and have stray bullets going into office widows~~~

It's just a trajectory thingy :palm:

Wouldn't it have been nice if there was a plan in place so you wouldn't be in debt now?

No, because his entire life he would have been forced to purchase insurance.

What is the net present value of 40 years of insurance premiums? I bet you never even thought about it

Do you have any idea the skill involved in shooting up into the air such that the bullet comes on a downward trajectory to hit a target window such that it shatters the glass, lands one foot inside the window and does not penetrate the blinds?

The idea that this was an intentional act to threaten Cantor is laughable.

So your contention is that the cops are wrong, and Cantor is right.

Hilarious. Can you be any more partisan, than to continue to defend cantor's lie?

Clearly you've never lived in an urban area. Punks and gun nuts shoot their guns in the air on a routine basis. I've worked in office buildings located near high crime areas, where windows have been shattered by stray bullets.

Nobody "shot at" Cantor. But continue to defend the indefensible if you must.

No problems. You want to be a noahide brainwash victim go ahead. They have a racial apartheid regime no better than the white supremacists of s. africa.

And they make sure our oil reserves are off limits or sold to china so that the middle east remains "politically relevant", so they can keep american boys dying for their race regime. That's dandy.

Yes because maybe outside of Oakland or some white trash Southie in Boston white people don't usually come to work with bullet holes in their window.

Note to teabaggers who continue to defend Eric Cantor's lie.

Please, please excuse yourself from jury duty, or any venue where you are asked to make a reasoned decision on the basis of plausible evidence.

The fact that the cops said this bullet bounced against an office window on a downward trajectory is prima facie evidence that the bullet was not "shot at" cantor or his office. There's no other reasonable explanation. It's beyond any reasonable doubt that the bullet wasn't shot at cantor's office......unless you want to believe that the shooter flew by in a helicopter and shot down at cantor's office.

I bet you never even thought about the fact people don't put a few dollars away every month for 40 years for medical expenses.

Yours is just one more example of not thinking things through. It's the same crazy, irresponsible argument used for Social Security when people say if one invested they'd have more money at retirement. For the last time, people don't save.

Social Security would have never come about if people did save. There wouldn't have been any need for it. The topic would have never come up.

The same with medical expenses. If people saved and could afford their medical expenses a politician wouldn't have won the Presidency campaigning on universal medical care.

Why do people have such difficulty seeing the obvious?

Note to dumbass liberals who continue to defend Steve Driehaus (D.-Ohio) and his lie about a rock being hurled through his office window.

especially when his office is on the 30th fucking floor.

wow, you have no idea of the irony and absurdity of your statement, do you?

Why do people have such difficulty seeing the obvious?

i'm asking you that question right now.
