The poll finds that 62 percent want Congressional Republicans to keep challenging the bill, while 33 percent say they should not do so. Nearly nine in ten Republicans and two in three independents want the GOP to keep challenging. Even 41 percent of Democrats support continued challenges.

Note: the article also states:
A CBS News poll released Wednesday finds that nearly two in three Americans want Republicans in Congress to continue to challenge parts of the health care reform bill.

In addition:

Despite a Congressional Budget Office analysis finding that the bill will ultimately lower the budget deficit by $143 billion over the first ten years and $1.2 trillion dollars in the second ten years, 57 percent of those surveyed, including most Republicans and independents, say the bill will increase the deficit. Just 18 percent say it will decrease the deficit.

Well, at least now we know which parties constituents struggle with basic math skills. Who wants to bet those 18% are predominantly Democratic sheep?

me thinks your pulling flyshit out of pepper.
I saw a gallop poll Monday that had 49% approval to 40% disapproval and thats before all the republican lies are washed away.
Bohner, is toast

Um... I am simply posting the results of the CBS poll. I also pointed out the fact that a part of their article states people want the Reps to fight 'parts' of the bill. I am not sure where CBS got that portion, but it shows the results should be taken with a grain of salt (IMO).

it's a dogshit bill, will cost exponentially more than tagged. But once you but the addict on the entitlement drip it's over.

While I do agree it is hard to get such a bill removed once in place, the bottom line is that in the next twenty years, all such programs are likely to blow up in our faces. We will have no choice but to correct the insanity. The longer we wait, the higher the cliff we climb and the more painful the fall will be.

This week the polls are all over the place....

Some consensus will fall out in the next few weeks, but it really all depends on how you ask the question.

The Republicans really overplayed their hand, it just got out of control, the militant wing of the Republican party, "the Tea Party" got out of control!

we'll cut the facist military budget in half.

I will ignore your 'facist' bullshit. Then I will agree, we most certainly can cut our military budget. There is a lot of waste there. For example, I do not believe there is any need for bases in Germany any more. Just one example. Add in some of the weapons projects etc... and from what I understand a much too large administrative side to the military and we have a start.

But do not kid yourself. We will still need to correct the entitlement programs

I say it's time to pull all of our bases home, troops, buildings, wiring, plumbling, and oh-yes, all those dollars those troops spend.

Put them on our borders and tell the rest of the world to go suck eggs.

I would support that. No US troops involved in anything over seas. We will return all of them home and provide the rest of the world what they want. No US military involvement... anywhere... unless someone is foolish enough to attack us here.

I also would offer that we withhold aide, both monetary and physical; except for those countries that show themselves to be our true allies.

I hear what you are saying but let me play devils advocate. Our economy runs on oil. Yeah, yeah I know all this green stuff but the reality for today and for at least the near term future we need oil. If we pulled all our troops from across the globe and middle eastern countries start attacking each other and ultimately either stop or severely restrict our access to oil what will that do to our economy?

For one thing, it would cause us to go back on relying on ourselves and finding ways to overcome and not just get by.

Ok, but there would be a severe hit to the current quality of life we all enjoy now. How many people are going to be happy downgrading their lifestyle? I know it's easy to say too bad tough it out but in reality I don't think most would just sit back and take it.
