Morning gains in the Stock Market!

well the republican fear mongerers had pre markets way down. Then people with families started buying the drug and insurance stocks.

The Republicans were screaming that it was not going to pass, untill today!

I bought some drug stocks and insurers.
both sides are lying that they are killing insurers. Do the math 30 million new customers most of whom don't need the coverage.

Yep, by forcing people to buy insurance against their will, why wouldn't healthcare companies stocks gain?
I could improve ANY industry I wanted by forcing consumers to buy their good or service.

The long term implications for the rest of the stock market are not going to be as rosy as you have forced SOME capital away from them. Moreover I think we can all say that the healthcare companies long term prospects are also worse because government will only further its role once this reform fails and Dems demand the next step in nationalization and blame the "free market" once more...

sure kingofwhiners hc stocks are up 2% in a day becuase the outlook is so shitty. thanks for that gem

I already just said why they are up.
You really think in the long term that this is ALL the Dems will do in healthcare? If so then I guess those "idiotic" insurance companies just wasted a ton of money in opposing this bill.

WHY do you think they spent all that money opposing the bill?
You really think they did it because of a GOOD long term outlook for them?

So strong corporations are bad for America?

Isn't that your argument?

Personally I think free business (big or small) is good for America.

You have to agree Jarod that it is incredibly frustration to have a party like the Dems reward fucking big business with government help and then turn around and accuse Repubs and Conservatives as being the ones who love big business, yes?
Almost as frustrating as seeing the left constantly increase government's role in healthcare over the last 60 years and each time it got worse, blame Repubs and the free market a little louder.

Yes, for the next couple of years they will do no more on Health care. He will beat republicans silly with that victory. He will move on to financial reform, legalizing his reelection vote and cap and scheme. write it down dummy

I am for strong corporations, as long as they are properly regulated and responsable.

When the government goes hand in hand with corporations it is fascism, and no, IMO that is not good for the US. If this legislation is upheld by the courts we now have the IRS ensuring that Americans purchase a specific product from only government approved corporations which put out the product specifically ordered by the government.

That is why we need a public option.

Jarod simply doesn't understand what you're saying. It's totally a no-braine that insurance stocks would soar as people scramble to buy into them before the new artificial boon in insurance policies and thus insurance profit. Why didn't our beloved leaders limit the profit margin or even make it non-profit?

I just remember all the economic dooms day predictions the Republicans made over the past 6 months...

because dems are in the insurance companies pockets, ever see a list of thier holdings?

You are right, they will do no more in healthcare for 2 years, probably 10 years but eventually they will try again. Just like the Dems passed the Patients Rights Act in the late 90's, left healthcare alone while more and more became uninsured from that act and then came back blaming the "free market".

It seems like most of your support for Dems is because you love seeing the Repubs get hammered, especially over Iraq - really you are motivated by revenge. Just seems an odd trait in someone who is an astute investor.

I think you have assuaged yourself over Dems on healthcare reform because they didn't do someething turbo-libby enough, what are turbo-libs really but Liberals who have decided they want a quick kill in their hunt of Capitalism rather than those who think it most pragmatic to do it little by little...as those who just did and will continue to with your support.
