How DOGE will likely work

Teflon Don

I'm back baby
Some are saying that DOGE isn't a real government, executive position authorized by Congress so they can't do what they are doing. While technically that is true, it won't matter and here is why.

Since Musk and Ramaswammy are running it, they don't need the money. They won't be paid by the gobblement. No expenditures

Also, they won't need Congress to actually cut the spending.

First and foremost they can recommend trimming the gobblement by going through and rescinding generations of executive orders which is in the sole discretion of the President of the United States and Congress and the Supreme Court can do nothing about it. Long standing precedent gives sole discretion of executive orders to you guessed it, the Executive Branch.

So get ready for your tax dollars to be saved

The offshoot of this is that Virginia can finally turn back to a red state if all of these leeches who siphon our money and live in the suburbs of Virginia and Maryland have to move out. Of course it could result in a real estate crash in DC, but I am willing to accept that risk for the good of the country.

Let the former Government employees learn to pick produce. I hear there will be new job opening there soon.

I think it’s cute that you think Congress is going to let these two oligarchs dictate to them what to do.

You must have not read the entire post or maybe you didn't understand it? Let give you a little civics lesson.

They don't need to go through Congress. They can cut significant spending through rescinding Executive Orders. They can choose to not backfill open positions. That is all in the purview of the Executive Branch. Congress has ZERO say so. Yes Congress has the power of the purse, but the President wields the power on executing.

As I said there is much that they can do to cut spending. All I ever hear from the bureaucrats is "that is only $5 billion dollars, it won't put a dent in it". As if $5 billion doesn't matter. Of course it doesn't if it isn't your money.

I hope there aren't any pet projects of yours that will get cut

Such a believer in myths. The rich never have enough. They do nothing for the general welfare. The donations the wealthy give in politics are paid back in multiples. Trump and family made a shit ton of money when the grifter-in-chief was in office. These people have enormous homes and yachts. But what they seek is tax cuts and less regulation. You will never learn. https://www.minnpost.com/eric-black...evelts-attack-excessive-concentration-wealth/

Some things Trump et al., can do without Congress to the bureaucracy that Congress really can't stop:

Forced removal of federal regulations by volume. For example, having each agency remove say, 5% of their regulations by word and page count while not precluding them from continuing to do whatever they do.

Relocating agencies and departments of the federal government out of DC. Example: Relocating the Department of Agriculture to say Kansas City in the middle of the country where most of the farms are.

Eliminate discretionary functions. Eliminate the Department of Education's R&D efforts.

Reassign some agencies and functions. Example: Place the Coast Guard back in the Treasury department instead of Homeland Security.

That's a few examples. There are lots of was the federal government can be seriously axed without congressional approval. If a department of the executive branch was created by the executive branch, then the executive branch can eliminate it if wanted.

And, again, I think it’s cute that you think America and Congress are going to let two oligarchs run the country.

If you think either one of them will skip a paycheck, even a relatively small one for them, you are delusional at best.

Trump's former chief of staff says Elon Musk will have an easier time getting to Mars than making proposed DOGE cuts

  • Mick Mulvaney said he doubts Musk can cut $2 trillion from the federal budget, per NYT.
  • Mulvaney also told clients he doesn't think Musk will be around long enough to his cuts through.
  • Musk and Ramaswamy outlined their cost-cutting plans in a recent opinion piece.
Mick Mulvaney, President-elect Donald Trump's second chief of staff, doubts that Elon Musk will achieve his lofty goal of slashing $2 trillion from the federal budget, sources told the New York Times.

On a recent call with clients of Actum, the lobbying firm where Mulvaney now works, the former Cabinet member told the 70-odd people listening to the call that Musk will soon discover that "going to Mars is easier" than radically reforming the federal budget, according to the Times. Musk founded SpaceX with a goal of colonizing the Red Planet and wore an "Occupy Mars" shirt at a Trump rally in October.

Trump recently appointed Musk the co-lead of the Department of Government Efficiency, along with biotech billionaire Vivek Ramaswamy. The two have vowed to slim the federal workforce, "delete" agencies, and fundamentally reshape how the government spends money.

As the former director of the Office of Management and Budget, which prepares the president's budget requests for Congress, Mulvaney has intimate knowledge of how federal spending works. He said on the call that he doesn't anticipate DOGE will successfully implement structural changes to how the federal government conducts business, and doubts that Musk will stay in his upcoming role long enough to see his goals through.

Mulvaney also reportedly predicted that tech executives, including venture capitalist David Sacks and Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale, will have a big influence on Trump's second-term agenda.

Musk and Ramaswamy outlined their plans for DOGE in an opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal. They intend to rely on recent Supreme Court rulings, sweeping executive orders, and early retirement incentives, among other measures.

Though doubts prevail, Musk has been known to succeed against all odds in the private sector — both Tesla and SpaceX have rebounded from near financial collapse, making him the richest man in the world. But he's already faced some setbacks in his new government advisory role, such as his failed push to make Cantor Fitzgerald CEO Howard Lutnick the nominee for Treasury secretary.

Representatives for Trump and Musk did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Everyone who is part of the swamp wants doge to fail.

How fucking corrupt will they be exposed when the gov runs just fine on half the budget?

And lord knows the crimes that will be uncovered in the process.

DOGE will not fail.

All these cuts, means laying thousands of people off. Is this part of Trump’s plan to lower the cost of eggs?
