Charlamagne tha God wonders if Democrats actually ever thought Donald Trump was a threat to democracy

I think the answer to that is "yes," as many still do. And that group includes Republicans and people who served with and under Trump.

I hope he isn't. Right now, I'm choosing to believe in the better outcome, and that he'll be a good or great President for all Americans.
 
He asks a very legitimate question. When we take a step back and drop our partisan pretenses we can recognize that politics is about winning, and you shape your message the best you can to achieve those goals.

I'm friends with two guys who run political campaigns in SF. When sitting down and talking with them you see the onion peeled back. They are ruthlessly concerned with one thing, winning. We on this board, and people all across the country, almost lionize the two political parties as some sort of deity. On the inside it is nothing of the sort.

Political parties choose messaging they think will appeal to voters. It doesn't mean they believe it.

I think partisan voters have come to see elections as more of a game.

There is always a lot of gloating and "in your face" when one side wins a Presidential, but I'm kind of ticked at the level of it this year. And 100% we would have seen the same from Dems if Kamala won. And that would have ticked me off, too.

It's a "read the room" thing. This country is painfully divided. I have never seen it to the point where each side thinks the other is basically evil, and that has had a big assist from leaders on both sides. Trump is a fascist, and Kamala is a communist. 2 sides of the same coin.

It would be cool to see more unifying tones coming from the winning side, but I get it. That's not who we are. But I'm sick of both sides hating the other with this much passion. It wasn't like this 20-30 years ago, and I'm not just looking through rose-colored glasses. There was hate, but also agreement and a feeling we were all Americans.
