Japan is in the process, with US help, of converting the Izumo and Kaga, two of their helicopter "destroyers" into full fledged aircraft carriers here in the US.

One of the Japanese warships bears the name of a World War II-era carrier that took part in the attack on Pearl Harbor.

When the conversion is completed, they can operate F-35 fighters much as US amphibious assault ships do now. The first will be the Kaga that is in San Diego for conversion right now

I still don't know what happened to that US fuel ship with a hole in it off the coast of Oman. It's not worth my time to find out how the carrier group is doing without fuel.

I didn't spend my career standing around the water cooler looking for a work spouse because I was too busy making sure the job ran smoothly.
