A couple questions for those against the health care bill..

1) Are you against any and all healthcare reform?

2) What SPECIFICALLY are you against in the current bill? (other than allowing the Democrats to pass anything)

1. No. tort reform is badly needed.
2. Almost all of it, mainly government intervention in something not authorized in the Constitution. If you want government health care, then move to a State that has it, and leave the rest of us alone.

these have been asked and answered. Unfortunately, SM parrots the old 'tort reform' canard. Tort reform will do nothing to lower health costs, despite his willingness to demand that it does.

Bullshit. Crooks like John Edwards got filthy rich suing doctors who were doing their jobs properly- where do you think his money came from? In order to avoid getting sued, doctors will perform batteries of tests that would not otherwise be justified.

blame the people responsible for those windfalls. the people on the jury.

i repeat. tort reform will not lower medical costs. I hear this from every REAL doctor out there.

That's a stupid response. Runaway juries are why we need tort reform. And every doctor that I know agrees with me. :)

Problem is the people on the jury are just like you....bleeding hearts that think money just appears out of the ether...As long as they can give the insurance company money away by the 10's of millions it means nothing to them...
The insurance company money comes from doctors and they get it from patients or their insurance companys, who in turn get it from the people paying for insurance.....get a fuckin' clue....the bottom line is US, bonehead

first of all, what is the CURRENT bill?.....is it HR 3200, is it the Senate bill (which to be honest I haven't read yet, since quite a number of Democratic senators said they would not support it and it was anticipated it wouldn't pass), is it the reconcilliation bill which has never been disclosed or is it the recent suggestions from Obama which haven't even been written yet.......

But its okay for the Federal Government to intervene in State Tort Law?

John Edwards did not do Medical Malpractice, he did Personal Injury law.

Tort Reform will help the insurance companies, not the Doctors.
