No, the government cannot recognize all the christian holidays and ignore the rest of the holidays of other religions. That would be the same as selecting a national religion, which is forbidden.

I want a banner across the White House during Rhamadan that says "Allah Ackbar", just like the Merry Christmas the Christians want during Christmas!

WinterBorn asked SouthernMan point blank about this very subject, and SouthernMan refused to answer. So WinterBorn took it upon himself to make a guess based on the general flavor of numerous posts.

WinterBorn asked SouthernMan about Wiccans having displays on the courthouse lawns, and Southernman elected to avoid the question.

The Southern Man routinely ignores you. You may take offense but you may not make up his point of view.

Again, your insistence that this is my statement is incorrect.

You have refused to answer direct questions, and made remarks about Hannukah being a minor holiday, Kwanzaa being a holiday designed to divide people rather than join them.

I aksed you what you thought of those religions not being able to have displays on the same properties that allowed nativity scenes, and you decided not to answer.

So I took your way, and made shit up! lol

So by extension Washington wanted a nat. Cathedral? Silly!

Notice that the Cathedral was never approved by Washington while the rest of the city was!

Washington wasn't like you libtards who want it all now then more, deficits be ignored.

You claim to ignore me, and then you go and find a specific post of mine, from 6 weeks earlier, to quote in hopes of embarrassing me.

lol

If these threads are going to fast for you to keep up, let us know and we will try and slow down for you.

Post 163 applies here as well.

This is just trying to work in insults when you have nothing left for the debate. It has no bearing on the discussion at all.

Try and stay with the topic.

It doesn't work for me at all. Thats why I have done some campaigning against it on the campus of the UofA.

Kudos to you...but the point I'm getting at is, where is the outrage from liberals in general....

They fought tooth and nail over a 10 second moment of silence in public schools for years, because it was seen as a "Christan thing"..... even going to supreme court to get it banned, but now the silence is deafening....

Post #163 only applies if I am willing to take directions from you. And we both know that ain't happening.

Perhaps, if someone asks you a simple and direct question, you might consider answering it. That will avoid these situations in the future.

Now, how do you feel about a Yule display for the wiccans along side the nativity scene? And perhaps something for Al Hijra for the muslims? Maybe Damo could tell us what sort of decorations would be appropriate for Bodhi Day?

I agree. There should be no preferential treatment for any religion.

I have made noise at every opportunity.

I didn't say the government should recognize ONLY Christan holidays and ignore other religions......and I agree they could not do that....

That being understood, it is still the government that has say over what holidays will be observed federally and which will not....obviously within the bounds of the Constitution
You even have the right to proclaim your birthday as a holiday and celebrate all you want, just don't expect to banks to close in your honor too....

Any one of us has the right to celebrate any holiday we want. The gov't however, must behave a little differently.

And the gov't cannot create a state religion.

I agree with the quote, I hate the government trying to protect people from themselves.

With regard to health reform... Its not about saving people from themselves, its about protecting the healthcare system from the uninsured.

Really its protecting the insured from the uninsured.

Nice hijack by the way!

There's an easy way to protect the healthcare system from the uninsured. If they don't have it and can't pay, don't provide care or send you the bill.
