Yeah, part of what he said was, "The bloggers are getting what they wanted, 'true' Democrats in a minority."I've always liked the guy. I would vote for him.

The guy was old school D, not the neo-liberal socialist..
You do realize that is why he's leaving, yah?And you do realize Bayh voted for the health bill, don't you? He's one of the main reasons it turned out as bad as it did, stripping out all of the popular portions and leaving us with the most yawn-inducing non-reform of the health system possible.
I think, like Ritter in CO, there is a scandal we don't know about and this was the only way he could keep it that way.His decision to wait so long to decide to tell everyone, leaving the Indiana Democratic party in a state of disarray, makes me think that this was planned in cooperation with Republicans.
Make that 8 senate seats.

He was a Republican. Our countries being taken over by far, far right nutjobs.

Working hard on what? Bayh is a total douchebag. He was the quintessential "centrist" blowhard that managed to do nothing but make bad bills worse.
Bayh's problem is that with a 59 or 60 seat Democratic caucus his vote is absolutely vital and he can have everyone kiss his ass and give him whatever nonsensical bullshit he wants just so that they can pass something. As strange as it may seem, serious "centrist" know-nothings have less power in a 52-seat Democratic caucus than they do in a 59-seat Democratic caucus. Bayh knows that and knows his little shakedown has about run out.
I will say, that considering all of the people that are resigning over scandals, my first thought was that Bayh must have some dirt brewing up that he wants to skulk away from. It seems that he may actually just be tired of the job.
One of my Congressman is actually stepping down for something other than corruption. Brian Baird simply put his foot in his mouth last year, and is hoping to avoid losing his seat to a Republican, so he's moving aside. The WA GOP still thinks they have a shot at the seat, though...
Evan would make a much better President that the one who's in there now.Harry Reid pissed in his Cheerio's is what happened.![]()
LOL You should be neg repped on general principle for making such a bad pun!http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/02/15/bayh.retirement/index.html?hpt=T2
