Would it be okay if the Principal led the kids in a volentary chant of "God is great!" "God is Great!"?
 
The basketball game would be a school function. It would not be okay, and audience members are not there for the voluntary prayer, they are there to watch the official school team play.

Now, if the Principal was a youth leader at his mosque and at an non-school event held at the school held a Muslim event where they chanted this it would be fine.

What if the team captain and other members of the team got together just before the game started and participated in a Buddhist Chant?

In Dixie land, it would be okay for them to chant "God is great" prior to the B-ball game, but not "allah ackbar".

I agree with you in paragraph 1, and 2. Paragraph three I would say that would only be okay if it was not promoted in any way by a school employee.

Ill qualify my answer re paragraph 2...

As long as the Muslam group did not get a "special discount" on renting the school for the event due to the fact that they are a religous group.

1.) An employee of the government, not acting in their official job capacity, should be able to lead a voluntary non-denominational prayer in a government building or anywhere they so desire.

The principal is not acting in his official job capacity. Is it because you do not consider the prayer non denominational?

2.) Such prayer should be restricted to extracurricular activities and not a scheduled event of the regular school day. And it should never be a mandatory requirement.

3.) Such a prayer would not be written or prepared by the school, or any particular religious denomination. Its initiation would be voluntary as well as participation, in all instances.

If the principal has a right to lead a prayer at this function, the state has no right to tell him he can't pray to his God. Clearly, they would be violating the free expression of religion.

Before we get too carried away with what Dixie is okay with, why don't we consult Dixie about that?

I don't give a damn what individual people voluntarily chant prior to, or during a basketball game. I find nothing in the Constitution which prohibits saying "alah akbar" during basketball games, if you can point that out to me, I will stand corrected, but I just don't think that's in there!

You've stated previously that school employees do not give up their Constitutional rights in order to do their job. So then why is the principal barred from leading such a chant?

Where did I say they were barred? I thought that was YOUR position?

I think I have been consistently clear, I don't believe people should be able to use their position as a school teacher to proselytize to their students. I think that might include a basketball coach chanting a jihadist phrase used in terrorist beheading of American citizens. Much would have to do with the circumstances, and I really can't see how any scenario one could envision, is pertinent to the discussion of voluntary prayer in schools.

Again.... oh, yet AGAIN.... you pinheads have to run to the extreme and absurd examples, to TRY and make your point, which has completely FAILED!

You argued that school employees do not give up their Constitutional rights in order to do their job. You argued that non school employees are free to lead a chant of "allah ackbar", but school employees are not. How on earth is that consistent or clear?

What I said was... you had a problem with the Prencipal leading them in a volentary chant of "Allah Ackbar!"
