Trump claims crime rates are soaring, but the numbers say something different.

Former President Donald Trump regularly cites surging crime levels, out-of-control Democratic cities and "migrant crime."*But the crime picture Trump paints contrasts sharply with years of police and government data at both the local and national levels.

The crime rate numbers for Biden are lower than in any of Trump's years as President.

So why is Donald Poopy Pants lying?
 
Trump tries to create a fake world for his supporters to justify their fear, in order to motivate them to vote for him and send him money.
 
Crime is interesting depending on who is telling the story. If there is shooting today they'll be a thread started about it and it won't be "crime is down in America" it will be 'oh look another shooting in America' and how many of these occur and how frequent they are etc.

Shootings of course are not good things and crime being down doesn't mean we should be happy in any way with shootings and killings. That said, to use Jarod's line, is it just anti-gun people trying to create a fake world for their fellow anti-gun people to send money to them and the anti-gun candidates they support?

Edit: No disrespect to the OP but MSNBC as a source is about as credible as Fox News. I'm sure there are much better places we can get crime data and analysis than extremely partisan 24 hour news channels.

MSNBC has never been sued for lying to their audience. Yeah, MSNBC has a liberal lean but they are nowhere near FoxNews in their misrepresentation of the facts.

FoxNews stands alone in their deceptive practices and misrepresentation of the truth.

To me the MSNBC, CNN and Fox News debate is like which criminal is worse. Even the 'winner' is a loser. These stations exist for one reason, ratings. Their product is of course politics. They get their ratings by giving their audiences what they want, political red meat. Doesn't matter what political persuasion one is, people like confirmation bias and these stations deliver in spades.

As a capitalist I admit being conflicted. These stations are the market speaking, giving audiences exactly what they want. Being an American I think they do a lot of harm to our country and serve as a prime reason for our divisions (not to imply everything was kumbaya prior to their existence, it wasn't). I don't think the gov't should outlaw them but I am quite fine with people calling out the damage they do.

Which criminal is worse? It's like comparing a traffic ticket with a murder charge.
One thing FoxNews does that the left media doesn't do is lambast the other side ad nauseam. If you watch FoxNews, they can't go five minutes without bashing the left wing media. And they're brutal. They scream at their audience "The left wing media is LYING to you" or "The left wing media won't tell you this, BUT WE WILL (propaganda)".

The way they fomented Trump's Big Lie was almost criminal. Lying to their audience about election fraud when they knew it wasn't true. The left wing media did nothing close to that EVER!!!

There's a difference between having a left/right wing bias and flagrantly lying about something so significant as our voting process.
Sorry but I have to disagree with you about lumping MSNBC with FoxNews. Both have biases but FoxNews has taken it to a different level. There is no comparison.

The problem is that only REPORTED crime is included in any data collected.
In cities with minimal or near-nonexistent police departments, crime isn't getting reported anymore. It's just openly being committed in broad daylight. Lootings, assaults (often with no motive other than thrill), car thefts, etc. are simply not getting reported anymore because there are damn few police in these hellholes (Los Angeles, San Francisco, Baltimore, NYC, etc).

In the data that IS collected, crime is increasing, except in States like UT, ID, TX, FL.

All governments say crime is falling when it is actually exploding. We have 60 million undocumented democrats living here in violation of law, but Joe the Pedophile Vegetable won't count that as a crime!!!
 
Numbers are fraudulently kept...and in a lot of places people have stopped reporting crime because there is no point....the Overlords are not interested.
 
Lying about inflation was moronic, lying about COVID was treason....people now know how extensively our government lies to us.
