Eighth Amendment

Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.
=========================

The largest fine in history against a private individual for a crime that has no victim and where the banks suffered no loss and would do business with Trump in the future seems a bit excessive.

The more I watch this particular case continue, the more i'm inclined to believe that this is nothing more than a Democrat scheme of political warfare on a scale never before seen.

The Democrats must be terrified of Trump running and winning again.

The “no victim” defense is comical, ah, he broke the law, using illegal means, he cheated and lied to get an advantage over others.

As I said before, the next time you get ticketed for running a Stop sign just tell the Judge there you shouldn’t pay a penalty because there was “no victims”

And the amount was what was estimated Trump cheated plus interest for the years it was a common practice for him

In other words, you think Trump is above the law

I fully agree with you, Breakdown, that the monetary judgements imposed against Trump were truly absurd.
Stiff judgements were certainly warranted, but those were far over the top.

The difference is that since it was Trump, I can't bring myself to care.
My seething hatred for the cretin prevents it.

Justice will eventually Prevail... it always does... carry on not caring though.... always be true to your school...

You should not want to see our legal system being abused no matter who is being abused. If they can get away with doing this to Trump they can do it to anyone. It's just a big step towards totalitarianism. If judges can levy fines that are unconstitutional nothing will stop them from ruining a Democrat next time.

I'm all for fixing the problem once we get rid of the menace Trump, Breakdown.
While he's around, eradicating him and neutralizing his followers
are our only reasonable priorities
Acceptable life for decent people cannot manifest itself until that's done.

In any case, that's how I honestly see it.

When evaluating whether a fine is excessive, a criteria is the party’s ability to pay. UNDER OATH, Trump claimed to have $400 million in cash. So, does he or is it also perjury?

Judgement was based on the amount the State determined Trump cheated in undervaluing his assists, it climbed to new heights with interest incurred

Right, everybody commits fraud to the tune of $350 million

Trump broke the law, he pays the fine, same as it works for everyone
