Hannah has been found guilty. Her boss, Baldwin, is up next. Based on the article below, I suspect her boss will get, and deserve, a longer sentence than she.

‘Rust’ Armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed Found Guilty of Manslaughter
Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the young and inexperienced armorer in charge of the guns and ammunition on the set of “Rust” when Alec Baldwin accidentally shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter on Wednesday....Following the verdict, Gutierrez-Reed was ordered to be taken into custody and held until sentencing. She now faces up to 18 months in prison.

...Baldwin is expected to also stand trial later this summer on separate manslaughter charges. Though he was not called to testify, the jury saw eyefuls of Baldwin firing weapons in on-set video and b-roll footage, including moments where the producer and actor can be seen barking orders at his crew to reload and another where he uses a gun as a “pointing stick” to move cast and crew around.

Sure as hell should be.

Common ground, Grok. Agreed. If he was just an actor, he deserves the same sentence as Hannah, but since he was the boss responsible for hiring her and the safety on the set, I hope he gets 36+ months.

Her boss, Baldwin, is up next.

Baldwin was one of the executive producers, but not her boss, or more accurately not her only boss. He did not hire her. He did get funding for the film, but other people worked out the staffing issues.

There is an argument to be made that Baldwin should have demanded she be fired. But not demanding she be fired is not manslaughter.

Producers are the boss and Executive Producer is the top boss. Did you see where video was played of Baldwin using his pistol as a pointer to direct people? If he wasn't the boss, who was? Who should have stopped the unsafe practices on the set if not the Executive Producer and his staff?

I'd be happy to wager that Baldwin will rightly be held responsible for his actions.

Executive producers are people who get the movie funded. They are not involved in the day to day running of the movie.

Baldwin definitely had a lot of power on the set. He could have used that to get Gutierrez-Reed fired, even though he did not hire her. But that becomes a long distance to get to a crime.

If the legal system works, he will be partially civilly liable, but not criminally liable.

Then who was in charge of overall safety on the set? Who hired everyone?

Let's hope they televise the trial so that we may both learn from it. :)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Film_producer
A film producer is a person who oversees film production. Either employed by a production company or working independently, producers plan and coordinate various aspects of film production, such as selecting the script, coordinating writing, directing, editing, and arranging financing.

The producer is responsible for finding and selecting promising material for development. Unless the film is based on an existing script, the producer hires a screenwriter and oversees the script's development. These activities culminate with the pitch, led by the producer, to secure the financial backing that enables production to begin. If all succeeds, the project is "greenlit".

The producer supervises the pre-production, principal photography and post-production stages of filmmaking. A producer hires a director for the film, as well as other key crew members. Whereas the director makes the creative decisions during the production, the producer typically manages logistics and business operations, though some directors also produce their own films. The producer must ensure the film is delivered on time and within budget, and in the latter stages before release, will oversee the marketing and distribution of the film.

Producers cannot always supervise all of the production. In this case, the primary producer or executive producer may hire and delegate work to associate producers, assistant producers, line producers, or unit production managers.

He’s a rabid leftist on trial in a state with a legislature that has a 2 to 1 jackass majority. I can only assume the jury pool would swing the same way. Everyone of them will just remember his SNL Trump parodies and he won’t do 10 minutes of jail time.

I'll take that bet. I'm thinking he is sentenced to at least as much time as Hannah...but he deserves more since he was the boss and set the standards for safety on the set.

Maybe they will think he is Trump then he will get the death penalty.

The thing about Baldwyn is, he knows better than to shoot even a BLANK GUN at someone just 3 feet away from him.

He was seen in a movie clip on set, warning others about the danger of it, just a few days before this happened.

That little clip will end up being evidence one!

I'm thinking too much Wild Turkey! Guns and alcohol- WHAT COULD GO WRONG THERE?
