Impeaching and failing without producing evidence of wrong-doing is much worse than impeaching and failing simply because of party politics. FWIW I felt the impeachments of Bill Clinton and Trump should all have ended in convictions. Not a Constitutional scholar, but even if successfully impeached, it was still a decision as to throw them out of office...which I'd have supported too. LOL
