Agreed, but I am concerned how much of the country these idiots will burn down before they are put down or controlled. It is what keeps me from worrying too much. The fanaticism of Republicans will screw them in the end.

It will be a close call, but I think we have a chance.
And I think many people are thinking of backup plans. No one wants to end up in one of trump's "freedom cities." As a side note, I am not saying that trump would definitely setup his "freedom cities" if elected, but it is a real possibility.
The people with the money know it wouldn't work. Such tactics would simply be used for leverage.
It's been almost 100 years since Hitler. Hopefully the world has learned a thing or two along the way. That is what everyone was promised with Hitler. trump is at mercurial. Sometimes he carries through with threats, even when it makes no sense to do so.
trump threatened to destroy the art at the Bonwit Teller Building if he did not get speedy permit approval, and $50k. The Metropolitan Museum of Art helped him get speedy approval, and got him the $50k. trump still destroyed the art. he had threatened to do it so much that he began to believe he would do it. It is a disturbing process that you often see in trump's semi-dead brain.

On Wednesday, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, a Republican who is leading the impeachment investigation, played down Smirnov's importance claiming he "wasn't an important part of this investigation because I didn't even know who he was" during an interview with Newsmax.
The compilation also included a clip of Representative Jim Jordan, chair of the House Judiciary Committee, claiming Smirnov was "an incredible source" for the FBI. However on Wednesday, Jordan insisted Smirnov's indictment, and his alleged connection to Russian intelligence officers, "doesn't change the fundamental facts" about the Biden impeachment bid.

Saddam and Putin are tin-plated dictators, a dying breed in the modern world.Saddam would never invade Kuwait, he was just making threats to get concessions. Putin would never invade Ukraine, he is just making threats to get concessions. Xi would never destroy the tutoring and gaming industries in China, he is just making threats to get concessions.
We have better than even odds of defeating trump. Even if trump is elected, we have better than even odds that he is just making threats to get concessions... But the very fact his domestic, and international threats are so clear is worrisome. This is a real danger.

They knew going I that their key informant was bullshit, yet they were all over TV echoing that their FBI informant justified an inquiry
”Republican: Colleagues were warned informant’s Biden claims were not verified”

It matters little, their goal was never to actually impeach Biden, if it happened fine, but not their main purpose was to generate enough innuendo to portray Joe Biden as a criminal for their media and Trump to echo.
They’ll continue onward, MaraLago demands it, embarrassing or not, besides , it is all the GOP House actually seems capable of doing

While it's possible such a thing can happen in the United States, there's a lot more dynamics going on in a nation of 330M+* and the largest economy on the planet by a long shot. Hitler rose to power in a nation decimated WWI and the economic aftermath.
Author James Baldwin famously wrote “The most dangerous man is one who has nothing to lose”. This is also true on a social level; if people have nothing to lose, they will revolt. While the Trumpers have their share of nutjobs, most are not willing to give up their middle-class lives, middle-class families and middle-class homes to burn it all down.

*the world's third largest even though both India and China are each over four times larger.
Xi thinks no matter how much of a dictator he is, China will be fine. It is supposedly too big to fail.
My fear is that trump thinks the same.
Xi may not be as much in charge as he believes himself to be. Yes, he's the Chairman, but if he fucks up too much, can he be booted?
As for Trump, anyone stupid and/or delusional enough to set up 1/6 is stupid and/or delusional enough to believe all kinds of crazy shit. Him being able to turn his delusions into reality is a completely different matter.
