New York hush money case will be first Trump criminal trial, set for March

The decision means that the first of Trump’s four criminal prosecutions to proceed to trial is a case centered on years-old accusations that he sought to bury stories about extramarital affairs that arose during his 2016 presidential campaign. Other cases charge him with plotting to overturn the results of the 2020 election and illegally hoarding classified documents at his Florida estate.

One case Trump has a chance of winning, it was a mistake making it a criminal case, not going to be easy convincing an entire jury. It is also the one less grievous, putting it first is an error, if Trump wins he will just propagandize it as proof he was victimized
 
Trump cannot win this one. He charged Cohen with paying the women off before the campaign so he did not face having to explain them and showing voters he did not honor his marriage vows. Cohen will testify. Cohen has the paperwork.

Former President Donald J. Trump is facing 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in the first degree as part of what the Manhattan district attorney’s office says was a scheme to influence the 2016 presidential election.

The charges trace back to a $130,000 hush-money payment that Mr. Trump’s fixer, Michael D. Cohen, made to a porn star, Stormy Daniels, in the final days of the 2016 campaign. The payment, which Mr. Cohen said he made at Mr. Trump’s direction, suppressed her story of a sexual liaison she says she had with Mr. Trump.
